A Must Have Collection in Your Movie Library.
A heart warming tale. Water diviner is a powerful drama involving a man's search for his lost sons who are presumed dead in the war. He is atleast trying to get their bodies ; so that he can bring them home this way. The movie is shot in a very picturesque way which keeps the audience entertained throughout the movie time. Characters are very powerful and have depth in their acting. This is also not shown as a complete war movie ; it's only briefly they show the outcome of the war inbetween. Russel Crowe's acting is brilliant and at par with his previous decade's 'Gladiator'. If you want to buy only ten DVDs this year; this one should undoubtedly be a part of your collection.

Good film - The Railway Man is better?
First of all the film is beautiful, full marks for cinematography. Forme this is Russell Crowe's directorial debut and it shows. the film isgood, but I didn't find myself empathising with his character JoshuaConnor and even less with the family. Maybe Mr Crowe is just trying toohard for a big blockbuster, but as they say from small acorns and Ifully expect that with his first film under the belt he will becomemuch more adventurous. It isn't a bad start, just not great. I foundmyself more drawn to the Colin Firth character in The Railway Man. Ilook forward to his next film, Russell Crowe brings a great presence tothe screen as an actor and ultimately will, no doubt do the same as adirector.

An unusual story sensitively handled.
This is a charming and very underrated film. Set just after the first world war an Austrailia father goesTo Turkey to find the bodies of his dead sons.He finds one alive. Staying at a guest house he forms a friendship with a Muslim women which is beautifullyhandled by the two stars. Recommended.

The Water Diviner
I'm not exactly a Russell Crowe fan but he was awesome in this movie. It was a sensitive and emotional look at the aftermath of WW1. For once it takes the viewpoint from those left behind and how the trauma of loss can affect families. The story slowly develops and the fact it was based on a true story made it even more poignant. People forget just how many men travelled from the far corners of the world to fight in a conflict they so could have easily avoided. For me it was an eleven out of ten movie. I enjoyed it much more than Gladiator.

You'll need tissues!
One of the saddest films I've ever seen but also one of the most meaningful. Brilliantly acted by all especially Russell Crowe.Really powerful & thought provoking.

Promising, but falls rather short
The basis of the film's story is promising, and Russell Crowe is always worth watching. The love story element tested belief a bit and it descended into cliche.
