Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (Kalmus Edition)

I am not a Bach fan but decided I needed to study a little more closely. These "exercises" are good for developing style and technique. Not for the faint of heart.

Very good but no fingering.We are beginners.Please finger the notebook.The edition is very good and very clear.With fingering will be superb!!!

I have received the Anna Magdalena Bach notebook and was delighted with the quality of the print.I found it hard to believe that this edition cost me $5.60 and at the same time the postagecost was around $47 ! This book might be suitable for advanced players, but for a beginner or intermediate I would recommend another edition. For only a few dollars more you can get the Alfred CD edition (edited by Willard Palmer) which comes with additional annotations (like fingering & phrasing suggestions) that make it much easier to learn the pieces. My teacher told me to switch and I am learning much faster after I switched away from this Kalmus edition.The one benefit of the Kalmus edition is that it is printed very succinctly. If you are an advanced player who just wants to learn a Bach piece and can figure out all of the fingering & phrasing yourself, maybe this edition would be fine. Few page flips because the Kalmus edition is printed very compactly.

I bought this for my husband who is learning to play. I've been playing for over 40 years and the first thing i noticed was the different rewritten notation. It looked like it was rewritten for more inexperienced pianists. I tried one piece, and it was fine. But then I played one of Bach's famous Minuets, and discovered an error in the notation. I can imagine there must me many more errors and I cannot recommend this version of this famous Bach piano book. I am going to have to look for another edition and hopefully will find the pieces correct.

It is a perfect introduction to Bach for piano students. It is replacing a copy that was worn beyond repair.

The only problem with this collection is that there are some mis-printed notes. My 8 year old son is learning piano and his excellent teacher has made corrections but it would be difficult to correct if you are a piano-playing beginner (as he is) without an experts help.

I dislike that there aren't any fingering guides in this otherwise very good book. It is a little difficult for me. Good for those more experienced piano students.

Aunque la impresión y la apariencia del libro es buena, no tiene los números de los de dedos. Otro contra es que cuesta trabajo mantener el libro abierto.

Partition Kalmus inutilisable :J'ai parcouru 2 morceaux et j'ai constaté :P22 : menuet qui fini sur une fausse note à la basseP27 : un # à la clef qui disparait jusqu'à la page 35Je me suis arrêté la, la lecture étant impossible... mais il y a probablement d'autres fautes. A croire que cette édition n' a même pas été relue.Je ne comprends pas les personnes qui mettent 5 étoiles. Peut-être ont-ils eu une autre édition...?
