Confusing gas hookup.
I have not yet put together this fireplace so I am unable to give a full review. However, upon getting ready to hook it up I ran into an issue. I built an addition on my house with no basement. Because of this, I had to run a gas line to where I thought the fireplace might go prior to the builders putting the floor on the addition ( I had to run the flex gas line between the floor studs and just leave about 10" of the gas line above floor level.) I finished the inside of the addition, and now ready to hook up the gas line to supply the fireplace with gas. Before I did this, I decided to open the first of two boxes to see how the fireplace will set against the wall. It certainly is not as I had expected. I expected a base that was cut out in the back of the unit so I could hook up the gas line. My now existing gas line is approximately 5" or so away from the wall. The foundation of the fire place is a square platform that has NO were for the gas line to come up from the bottom of the unit. The inlet for the gas supply is on the left side of the unit. NOW WHAT??? I have to put a fitting and a valve on the gas line, but it will be right in the center of the base platform and there is no way that will work.....Because the gas line is fixed in place under the floor studs, my only choice was to cut a path between the gas line and the wall and try to flex the line to be closer to the wall. But this still leaves a space between the fireplace and the wall. I don't think its going to look right once installed and having to set about 2 or 3 inches away from the wall because of the gas line. (I will upload pictures soon)Also note, I had to unpack both boxes and examine and go through the manuals just to determine how and what my options were for running a gas line to the unit. The only thing that was obvious was where the gas hooked in to the unit. It was not obvious where I will be able to run a flex line to hook in to it.

and Michael recommended I call customer service
I would give the fireplace five stars but the customer service brought it down to three. I have owned my fireplace almost a year. When I started it this winter I could get the pilot light to light but that is all. The fire would not come on, I called my gas company (actually, I called my friend Michael who is the local gas company) since they installed it for me, and Michael recommended I call customer service. He told me that he thought the solenoid was working and he cleaned the ports and such. I called and a very nice gentleman assisted me. I told him that Michael thought that the solenoid was ok. (I discovered later that he was wrong.) By that information he was able to determine the part I needed. He told me that it would arrive in 3-4 days. He was correct. He was also correct that it would be easy to replace. But the fireplace still would not light. I called again and the woman I spoke to walked me through testing the solenoid which proved to be faulty (Thanks a lot Michael!!). She told me that they would send it to me the next day. After waiting for more than a week, and watching the temperature drop to 23 degrees, I still have no part. I called again and was told, with apologies, that it had not been sent. The very nice man told me that he had no idea why it had not been sent but assured me it will go out tomorrow. Last Friday I sent an email explaining the problem but now, at the end of Monday, I have had no response. I am very happy with the fireplace, when it is running, but I am not happy with the service I have received. The individuals I spoke to were very nice but that does not help me chase this chill away. Using three electric heaters to compensate is going to have my electric bill skyrocket, which is upsetting since I bought this to avoid high electric bills. I am cold and a bit frustrated.

WOW! This fp is GREAT!!
Delivery was a little hectic, but LOVE the fireplace! We are thinking it will be out primary heat source for this upcoming winter since we ordered it late spring. We did have a cold snap and was able to try it out, we were IMPRESSED! Very comparable to a wood burning stove, without all the mess.Came in different colors, but this one was $300 cheaper then the off white one I would have rather had, so will paint my living room walls instead.Remote sense the room temp, once in awhile it doesn’t kick the fireplace on (or off!) but just WOW!We have our 55” tv sitting on it, and it looks great! The flames are beautiful tooIt was really easy to put together too, the mantle is solid, way better then the electric fireplace we had in the spot before this one!

Great product...poor service
The fireplace is great except that it was missing a part. The middle bracket is missing and I can't install the fire logs until I get the bracket. I sent them photos of the missing part and copies of my purchase receipt. Three weeks later and still no word. When I call it takes about 30 minutes on average to talk to someone and its always the same woman. She says they are working on it and that I'll get an email when its on its way. This was the second time I have been told this and still nothing. Like I said, the fireplace is well built and works great but it does make a loud clicking noise when it comes on or goes off. This can be startling. I would like to give it 5 stars but customer service is very important.

Stew Review Thumbs Up
We have had this fireplace for a year now going into the second season of using it and I will say it is a great fireplace. This unit heats my entire house it is that effective. This unit is solid wood and I mean SOLID it is very heavy every piece of it was heavy. I would have gave it 5 stars but the remote is not very good, that is the only complaint I have with it, there is no down button for the thermostat set, there is only a up and you have to hold it down until it goes back through the the temps to get to where you want it. Also you have to change the 4 double A batteries once a month but that happened on my old fireplace also. Over all you are getting a A+ quality unit for a less expensive price. Make sure you have a vent somewhere in the room or crack a window about 5 inches. This is a Vent Free Fireplace but that just means it has no Vent you still have to have some kind of ventilation in the room just like for all Vent Free gas heaters.
