Good When Prepping for the Exam
It's twelve years old, so it's not current.;the 2017 edition is more geared toward library terminology and techniques, as is the exam in the L. A. County Library system. But its a good primer for the the reading comprehension and grammar sections of the test.

Great for exam prep, not just for Librarians!!
This book was perfect for a County exam for Library Assistant I - lll. It more than prepared me for the exam and I’d recommend it for anyone needing to learn more about how libraries are arranged, the history and the functions within their structure.

Not very helpful for an entry level position.
I was disappointed for a few reasons. I paid the higher rate for a new copy and was sent a used copy, which still contained paper notes from the previous owner. Also, the pages were not numbered and difficult to follow. The information seemed more technical and not suited for the Library assistant position. The guide contains several short test which were good, but offered no explanation for the correct answers. For me it just wasn't worth the price. Good Luck everyone!

Useful for exam/test
I bought this for a library technical assistant exam and it had all the essentials needed. Their were other items with similar titles and from different years but this was the most updated and useful.

Not for the Connecticut test
I bought this for the state of Connecticut test for my daughter. It did not really help for that test. The questions in the book were not close to the ones asked. She did great because she has worked in a library.

Library information at end of book was essential.
Good information about library classification. Lots of vocabulary. The pages were not numbered sequentially, so I had to make up my own page numbering.
