Tube Amp Doctor 7025WA / 12AX7 Premium Selected Vacuum Tube

I decided to replace the original factory Marshall branded JJ tubes in my Marshall DSL40 amp. The TAD tubes were placed into positions V1 & V3, then I played some songs on my Gibson SG. They produce a high pitch squelch; not the right tube for classic rock with crunch. These tubes are not worth the price.6/6/17 update – upgraded to 3 stars. I replaced the V1 TAD with a JJ but left the V3 TAD. This made a huge difference, eliminated the squelch and produced a dark crunch.

If your looking for something to umph and balance an amp up in the first Gain stages this is your tube, I put it in v2 of a 6505+ 112 to fatten up my lead with a Mesa spax7 in v1 and this guy definitely works better where i needed it!

I bought this tube to try in my Fender Pro Tube Twin Amp. It is higher gain than I want, so I moved it to a position outside of the drive circuit. This sounds better than the Tube Amp Doctor Premium Selected ECC83WA, but it wasn't anything amazing. It sounds a little better than the Chinese Grove Tubes the amp came with.

I put 3 of these in my 1965 Fender Bassman in V1, V2, and V3. They did not work with this amp as described. The highs were harsh and brittle instead of smooth highs with fat mids. Maybe they would sound better with the amp cranked but I haven’t had the opportunity to try it. I play it at home with the volume at about 3, which is LOUD!

Lasted only about 4 months the quit

I put it in the v1 slot of my Marshall DSL50 and was blown away at how much it improved the tone. I was skeptical at first, but it was money well spent.
