OPUS#1S Hi-Res Portable Digital Audio Player (Purple)

I have had this new toy for 2 days, and already love it. The sound is spectacular with my Grado SR 125 headphones. It has plenty of power with its built-in headphone amp to drive just about anything. I ripped my entire CD collection of several hundred discs to FLAC some time ago, and am just floored that all of that music-roughly 120 GB- easily fits onto a chip about the size of my thumbnail, with over 100 GB of room left over! Then I added over 100GB of MP3 files and still have room left on the chip. Everything sounds wonderful. I cannot describe it in technobabble, but I can say that is the finest sound quality I have ever heard from a sound system. The software navigation is first-rate too. This machine is made for only one thing-to play music with incredible quality sound. You cannot stream with it, or check your email while you are walking across the parking lot, or watch your porn or other videos on it, or talk to your friends, or take pictures or make recordings, etc ad nauseum. Operation and navigation is simple, intuitive, and very competent. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for. In this case, you could pay a lot more for other systems to get this quality. I cannot wait to hear what it sounds like with a new set of Periodic Audio beryllium earphones!Addendum:The Periodic Audio beryllium earphones are phenomenal with this player!

this is my 3rd DAP I owned A TEAC - HA-P90SD that had the most amazing sound but with no touchscreen, it was hard to use and I also had the FIIO X5 3rd that had good sound but the software was laggy,so I switched to the OPUS#1S, the only reason I ended up returning it was because the unit doesn't play SACD ISO Filesbecause I have a growing collection and I definitely hear quite a difference when I listen to the same albums on FLAC with the same machine, if you are into sound quality and not bells and whistles this is the DAP for you!!!I just ordered the Cayin N5iiS, and I really hope it at least sounds as good as the OPUS (It doesn't)

I purchased an OPUS #1S directly from Music Teck about a year ago, maybe a little less. It is my best sounding player. I think it sounds better than the OPUS #3 which I also own. It plays music and that is all I want it to do. Great screen, easy to use the menu. I have it wired to a Nakamichi receiver and big JBL 10" Studio Series speakers, with intense equalization through an old Pyramid equalizer. I do that so I can hear every nuance of the music, all of the stereo separation, everything, and not bother anybody else.The 1S is unique. Hard to find and worth listening to because it sounds about as full and clear as I can probably hear. It is fairly large and heavy, a bit lighter than my original Fiio X5 1st gen (a brick). I recommend using the case, which adds bulk but protects the back. I have a large collection of these players. My daddy didn't let me have a Sony transistor radio when I was a little kid growing up and so I made up for it with a fascination for these players. Every time I think I am done, they hook me with something else. With the IS, and the new Shanling M0, I am truly satisfied and now I hope I can stop supporting the trade deficit.I recommend the 1S if all you want is a great sounding (123db SNR! and it is noticeable) easy to use, pleasure to view player. OPUS has a unique sound signature, and the IS takes that signature and enhances it greatly. I also own the plain OPUS #1, which has a sweet sound signature unique to OPUS.
