Love this snuffle mat!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Got this for my 14 pound doggie because he eats extremely fast and also has compulsive behaviors during meal time (circling & screaming.) I feed half his kibbles in the bowl with some water, then the other half in the snuffle mat. Although he still goes through it quickly, it definitely takes more time for him to get all the kibbles and gives him a fun activity to do. He doesn't chew on fabric, but I would think dogs should be supervised when using it because they may be tempted to chew the strips of fleece. Oh, and my quail likes scratching in it too!

Not just for working breeds
Even my tiny little Maltese loves snuffle mats! He's 7 months and 3.5 lbs: snuffle mats are for more than just working/herding breeds! Our first one was left at a camping spot, so this is a replacement and we like it just fine. I make it hard for my pup too, I really push bits of treats down into the mat and really cover them so he has to work at it...determined little guy will go at it for an hour or so to make sure he gets every last piece. We feed raw, so I can't comment on kibble, but for bits of apples, carrots, cheese etc and even freeze-dried raw, this mat is a good time for him...he gets excited when he sees it laying out. Sometimes I'll leave it out and hide just ONE item in it so he has to hunt and hunt for it. I also like to "hide" his smaller toys in it, like the tiny rope or ball, so that way it's fun for him to check in and see what treasures are loaded up for the day. For small dogs, make sure you set the mat out in the middle of the floor so they can walk all the way around it: my little guy will step on the mat, but he also likes to rotate around it (counter-clockwise...he always goes counter-clockwise...strange little thing!) The mat is made out of fleece material (like Polertec 200 or something--do they still rate fleece like that?) and you could easily replace a torn section with whatever scrap fabric you have laying around when your dog eventually beats it up too much. My only qualm with the material is that it pills and the pills are all over my floor--I'm sure the puppy has eaten some of them. The mat is also a little floppy, so make sure you carry it with two hands or have it nicely balanced if it's loaded while carrying. There's a loop on one corner that you could use to tie the mat down with and the plastic/rubber backing has many holes in it that would enable it to be tied down. Like I said, my guy is little, but even he flips it over and does his best to toss and pull it around. In all, a very good investment so far. I haven't washed this one yet but will update if there are any issues.

Puzzling fun for our dog
At first our dog was like "what" I have to find my own treats" but once we showed her that they were in there she had a blast looking for them, I think it's a good thing for the dog to have on occasion but I would not leave it out all the time, our dog was ready to play tug of war once all the treats were found so it could be construed as a fun chew toy as well if owners are not careful or if you have a young dog like us we have a 2 year old lab.

Good for 1 to 1 1/2 cups of kibble
This mat is made of fleece strips of fabric tied around a semi flexible plastic mat. The mat does slide around some on wood or tile floors. The mat on the back is about 12 inches by 12 inches, it is extended out about 3-4inches on each side with the fleece strips. The hook is a strip of fleece tied to the corner. My dog is 45 pound lab aussie mix and she loves "hunting" for her food. It does keep her occupied for a few extra minutes. I feel that it is really only good for 1 to 1 1/2 cup of food. My dog does not chew stuff up, if you have a chewers it may not be the best. It can be extended if 2 or more are purchased for a larger dog.

Great for mental stimulation
Love love love these! I am a dog trainer and I recommed these to all of my clients. This is a wonderful way to provide mental stimulation. It is also a great way to feed dogs that eat too quickly.

It sheds
I like that my dog likes it. He also likes to sit on it. What I don’t like is that it sheds a lot. I used a lint roller several times after opening it, but I still get tiny pieces of fabric. Next time I’m going to look for something other than fleece. It’s small and no matter how “strong” fleece is dogs can tear it apart if they want to, so always keep an eye on your fur babies when they are playing with toys.

Feed Pup’s Belly and His Brain. Love it!
I work with shelter dogs and there is one sweet boy who I just couldn’t seem to reach. He doesn’t like walks, toys, just food. I was so excited to find that he LOVES this. I get lots of wiggles and waggles when he sees me coming with this.Just sprinkle some of his kibble around the mat, tucking some pieces in for good measure. Nose work is so good for dog’s energy and mind.My own dogs have one too. And it’s always a hit when I bring it out. Remember to put it away after using it or they might lose interest, or chew it too much. Take away for a few days and it’s like new again!
