Good heavy-duty phone
This is a very good heavy-duty phone. It's got bulk and feels tough just when you're holding it. I have a Samsung Note 8 and for the last three months, I've been popping my sim in the RugGear when I'm out and about (about 4 days a week on jobs). It hasn't fallen or gone for a swim yet but I'm confident that it would survive if these things happened - which is more than I can say for my Samsung (my Samsung Note needed the screen and some internal mechanism replaced after it fell two feet off the bed and onto thick plush carpet). It feels a bit clunky but does everything you'd expect from a modern phone. The screen quality is good and the camera is good too for on the job photos.I think the price tag represents good value for what you get. I have to treat my Samsung with kid gloves but this RugGear acts the way I need my phone to act - suffer through my day and bounce back from the knocks the same way I have to :-)I was pleased to be able to purchase a wallet case for this phone separately.

Let Down Only By The Display - 5.99-inch HD / 720 x 1440
Yes, the screen is only 720 x 1440 which is half the pixel density of my old phone (720 x 1440 is what one would expect on a very budget phone and only allows limited detail content on the display).Standard Google Widgets for example can take up over half the screen as I guess are designed for higher pixel density displays (The display is 269 Pixels Per Inch). If all the apps you are going to use are very basic (like the display), this may not be an option and the plus points may win out.Good Points1. Not a single third party app installed, just basic Google ones (not even a weather app).2. 20Gb of free storage out of the 32Gb installed.3. Hopefully it can survive a dunking in the water (I have not tried this. Also note the headphones socket has a cover over it).4. Good fit in the hand and feels tough.5. Front and rear camera quality seems acceptable.6. Takes up to a 128Gb Micro SD card (I have put a Sandisk Pro 128Gb in it). What is missing1. No NFC Support2. No Fingerprint or camera option to unlock3. Last security update 5th May 2018 - Will it get any updates?Battery also seems built in so not sure if a replacement would be obtainable.Setting up was pretty easy once I figured out how to get the SIM card tray out. It has a waterproof cover over it and this has to be levered out exposing the eject button for the tray. Hopefully my photos are clearer than the ones in the manual. It has a USB-C connection and the charger is only two pin and have not tried it (or the headphones). So yes it all works but I don't think it rates the price (at review time £339.00).Also, I guess because it is a little obscure, no cases exist for it.I shall try and keep using it but very tempted to go back to my Sony Xperia XA2 32 GB Android O UK SIM-Free Smartphone which of course features fingerprint unlock, NFC and 424PPI display.

RG850 - Alles top !
