Successful DIY Installation
Very straightforward replacement (after watching YouTube). Take pictures to make sure the cables are properly placed when you reinstall. You will remove the a little plastic arm and place it on the new part. I was able to complete nearly the entire job in my own; just needed a little help guiding the top plastic trim panel around the window latch.Note: I was able to unlock the hatch by sliding my fingers between the plastic panels (I’m not lucky enough to have mine fail in the unlocked position). Push up the Rod on left side to release the window. There will be a rod directly below the top left corner. Move 3 or so inches the right of where you pushed up the rod and slide the cable to the left to release the lift gate itself.

Rear hatch lock actuator works great! I can open my hatch now!!
This rear hatch lock actuator works great and still continues to work flawlessly. If you have a problem of the rear hatch not opening after you press the unlock switch (either on your key fob or the drivers master switch) then most likely the issue is the rear hatch actuator Going bad. My issue was proved when I heard the lock actuator make a stuttering grinding sound as if it was getting stuck. I removed the rear trim panel that covers the entire rear hatch and I could manually open and close the lock just fine. I replaced it and everything works as it should now. My wife is happy because this is her car.

1st one failed, replacement recieved quickly, working well now
EDIT: Updated rating as replacment works well and is much quieter than the 1st one that failed. Must have just gotten a bad one 1st time. Deducted a star for the hassle.1st unit failed after a few cycles. Would not unlock. Now it sounds like the gears are stripping. Ordered replacement. Hope that lasts longer. Maybe got a bad one. Will update review after replacement is recieved. The lock/unlock mechanism this attaches to seems fine so I don't think this caused the failure. One thing to note is you reuse one plastic piece of your original mechanism. This is the piece that actually slides in place to unlock the trunk. If that piece is broken (mine was not) buying this will not solve your problem.

Perfect Fit - Worked for 1 year and 2 days! DIED!
This actuator fit perfectly in place of the OEM unit that failed (13 years old)...time will tell if I get that much life out of this one, but it does work as advertised and my rear hatch now unlocks so I am very happy! Can't beat the price!!****UPDATE****Exactly one year later and unit failed almost to the DAY! I guess they knew what they were doing with a 1 year warranty. :(

Item works perfect but larger in size
Instructions would be helpful. At first I didn't think this would work on my 2002 Suburban. You have to take the metal bracket completely off to remove the screw that holds the white plastic spacer, then use that screw to hold the actuator in place.

Easy do it yourself repair.
Watched videos on how to install it and saved a ton of money doing it myself. Once I pulled the panel off the hatch I got it hooked up and working in minutes. Works like a champ on my 2001 Suburban.

Works okay but.......
I installed this and has been working 1 day. So far so good. HOWEVER... this part slides into place but is held in place with one screw. The housing on this part is thicker where the screw goes. The screw needs to be 1/8"-1/4" longer now. It looks to be a special screw or trim screw and Lowes didn't have any. Don't really want to grind the housing. I don't want to create a possible open hole in the housing.

Worked for 1-2 days then quit
1st unit failed, returned for replacement. Will try 2nd switch to see if it stays working. I’d it fails, I will go with a dorman unit next time.
