I loved the presentation of the various layers of wlah history it relates to my ancestors. The depth of society was inspiring.

I had the pleasure of meeting the author while he was doing research at St. Andrews University in North Carolina and found both him and his book to very informative. This book goes into much more detail than someone in the U.S. needs, but it does seem to cover all the bases. But, a word of warning: genealogy research in the UK is more difficult than in the US and online research is very limited for Wales.

A Fine Guide
I liked this book and plan to refer to it in the future during my genealogical research. There are a number of helpful tables explaining currency, weights & measures, heraldry, and geography. I picked some useful knowledge regarding my Welsh ancestors.

Third book from this author
This is the third genealogy book I have bought from this author. Due to patronymics, Welsh genealogy can be confusing. Right now I'm kinda stuck in the 1700's. I really like how Professor (Dr?) Durie provides example documents and helpful strategies in his books to get unstuck. I haven't read a whole lot of this one yet because I'm still working through the two I bought about Scotland, but so far it looks as amazingly helpful as those two ("Scottish Genealogy" and "Documents for Genealogists")

A Must Have Reference for Welsh Genealogy
There is a wealth of practical genealogical information in this book. Like most amateurs, I had many profound misconceptions about tracking down my Welsh ancestors. Aside from providing helpful information, this book also served the useful purpose of constraining my expectations and focusing my research into more productive areas. Without being overly complimentary, this book has saved me from many false starts and literally months of fruitless effort.

A book about Scottish genealogy re-jacketed
I was required to purchase Bruce Durie's book about Scottish Genealogy for a course, as it was 'essential reading'.Little did I realise that I would be purchasing very similar content when ordering his title Welsh Genealogy. If I had the time I would share with you exactly how many pages are completely identical. I completely endorse the other comments made by reviewers with regards to the Sottish content being transferred across to this new title. The editing is truly awful (has it been proof-read?) also with maps mis-labelled, and completely irrelevent content that was obviously submitted just to fulfil some kind of publisher's required quota. Clans and tartans - I ask you! There are also substantial ommissions in this work, particularly with regards to Welsh background history. e.g No mention of the 'Blue Books' with regards to social and religious history.Shame on both author and publisher. Don't buy this, borrow it if you really must.

bought in haste now gathering dust
If only I had waited to actually see the book rather than buying in haste. Not sure who proof read this (if anybody!!) but a revised edition is required with corrections.

People of Wales
An excellent book explaining all aspects of Welsh Genealogy and plenty more about Family Genealogy. A good book for the money.
