Building Team Power... POWERFUL!
I have been an advocate of the concepts that Thomas Kayser introduced in his book "Mining Group Gold." My organization has seen the benefits of harnessing the power of more effective meetings and involving teammates. "Building Team Power" is a perfect companion! This not only builds on the concepts collaboration and consensus building, but also expands on conflict management and delegation. Perhaps one of the greatest parts of "Building Team Power" is the methods discussed for team problem solving. I can tell you first hand that incorporating this systematic and collaborative method of problem solving will create real, effective, and sustainable solutions! Too often in the past, we have all wasted time coming up with problem solutions that do not work. A key reason for this is that these ideas are put forth without really understanding the problem. The process that Thomas Kayser teaches in this book eliminates that.If you want to see your organization or team grow and maximize results, "Building Team Power" is without a doubt an excellent tool for you!

Building Team Power Review
I was a user of the approaches that Tom advocates for many years during my career in seveal organizations and now I teach them to others as part of my consulting practice. With this being the case, I considered myself to be a subject matter expert on them. However, when I received the new addition of "Building Team Power", I took the time to refresh my knowledge of the processes. As I did, I not only updated my understanding as to how to build highly effective teams, but discovered new ideas and suggestions in the new edition that I will use in my practice. While there are many books in the marketplace on the topic of team building, "Building Team Power" is the one that recognizes that building collaboration is the key to accomplishing this and also provides solid usable methods to do so. I highly recommend it to anyone who leads or facilitates teams.

Great Team Building Training Handbook
Building Team Power by Thomas Kayser examines the structural mechanisms and behavioral traits that combined to create highly collaborative teams. Thomas provides practical, detailed methods for leaders at every level of the organization to foster and enhance the collaboration between team members in six critical areas:- Mutual Trust- Decision-Making- Consensus Building- Conflict Management- Delegation Effectiveness- Team Problem Solving (two scenarios)I like Building Team Power for its immediately actionable insights into enhancing team collaboration at any level within an organization. I found Thomas’s methods to be deeply insightful, originating from sound academic principle and refined with real world experience during his thirty years at Xerox. Building Team Power is highly prescriptive, complete with process flows and charts that convey to the reader how to implement the team building methods. If I had one critisism of Building Team Power, it would be that the procedure-like formatting of the methods provided would be impractical to implement in a team setting. That said, I believe the book would make an excellent tool to create management training courses and teamwork checklists and guides.Building Team Power embodies many of the principles StrategyDriven recommends in building highly aligned and accountable organizations. Additionally, it mirrors many of our decision-making best practices. For these reasons, its academic foundation and real world refinement, and its implementability, Building Team Power is a StrategyDriven recommended read. All the Best,Nathan IvesStrategyDriven Principal
