Great product!!!. DIY...15 Minutes
This item worked very well on my GMC sonoma. Took about 15 minutes too install. I saw a lot of negative reviews on replacing this and how hard it was and even people breaking the cargo door panel to gain access to replace this handle, not the case for me. Start off by removing the seat belt bolt. It will require a torx bit to remove. ( you can get a cheap set at Walmart). You will need a small plastic pry bar. Starting from the top of the cargo door panel use the pry bar working outward. (Kinda like opening a paint can). Work your way lightly around the panel paying close attention not to over flex the panel. After doing this for about 5 minutes the panel should be close to posing off. After removing the panel you should now have a hand hole to work with in replacing your handle making it way easier to adjust. After removing the 4 screws that hold the door handle in place mark the location of the clips on the guide rods before removing the old handle it will give you a better idea as to where to put the new ones. My truck needed further adjusting before I had it opening the way I wanted. Another good tip...While you have it open shoot some WD40 on your door clasps and guide rods. After the door handle is installed be sure to test it a few times before buttoning that door up. Now that you have the door opening and closing the way you want it's time to pop that cargo door panel back on. All you have to do with putting the panel back on is line up the tabs on the panel with their corresponding holes on the door and press firmly. Hope I helped. ;)

S10 rear door latch
The latch matched the factory original perfectly. Taking the inner panel off the door was the biggest challenge. Mounting the latch and connecting the pull-rods was a piece of cake.

Breaks just as easily as the OEM part
Broke the OEM part, Installed this part, adjusted the door release properly. Broke the new lever a few months later. Wound up fabricating the lever mechanism out of metal. If you can find a metal replacement that isn't super expensive, buy that instead of this.

2002 GMC third door handle. Happy with price.
It for perfectly. I just wish the weren't made of plastic. We have had the truck since 2006 & have replaced the handle 4-5 times. We always went to the GMC or Chevy dealership & paid 4 times as much as we found it on Amazon. Thank you..

Plastic and breaks just as easy as the Chevy item.
This item is a replacement for the plastic junk that Chevrolet puts in 3 door S-10s. The shaft that actuates the opening rods in the Chevrolet item is plastic and readily breaks. This item replaces the Chevrolet plastic with metal but they make the handle out of plastic. I installed the handle in my truck and the first time I opened the door the handle broke leaving me in the same place I was before I spent ~$9.00 to get the replacement. Don't waste your money, but the higher priced unit and replace your door handle once.

10 min and installed
Looked just like original. Snaps onto cable like original. Original took a strong pull to open. They positioned on cable that way. Easy to break. I paid dealer $200 twice to put new ones on. I positioned on cable so it was a soft pull. No problems.
