Shimano 105 5800 CN-HG600 11 Speed Chain

I am not particularly enthralled with the Shimano system of closing a new chain. SRAM Powerlink system is much better and easier to set up. The pin can be a pain to set and frequently causes a stiff link. SRAM chains are interchangeable with Shimano, and I will use them in preference from now on.

Great product. I commute over 5,000 miles annually, so I go through a few chains per year due to stretch. This is standard equipment on my Cannondale Synapse Disc 5 105, and the shifting with my 11-speed Shimano 105-5800 is beautiful. Highly recommended.

I am a big fan of Shimano products, but this chain was difficult to install. Shimano does not provide a quick link so I had to use a chain-breaker tool which was very annoying. Some people prefer to use a chain-breaker tool but I prefer to use a quick link because it is easier and works better in my opinion. It took me an hour to install this with a chain-breaker tool and the link that I used the chain-breaker tool on still has a bit of a kink in it. Hopefully it won't break when I'm out on a ride. I don't know why Shimano can't just provide a quick link, it would save customers like me a whole lot of time and trouble.
