Review: Pro Boil = Yum Yum Yum - Yum yum yum. I never heard of this before until I wanted to re-create the Boiling Crab Cajun flavor experience at home and did an online search to figure out how. (That restaurant had the audacity to charge $25 per pound on dungeness crab citing **market price** when my local grocer is selling live crabs for $7 per pound. Good thing I only ordered 2 crabs without knowing what market price was...but it was a $100 mistake I will not make again!). Anyway, back to my Boiling Crab DIY story...some online tips recommended that in addition to re-creating the sauce at home, to also boil the seafood with seafood boil first. I didn't know what seafood boil was, but I knew desertcart has everything and sure enough desertcart came to the rescue. I bought this based on the excellent reviews and had it delivered to my doorstep. Yes! No need to wander the aisles of the supermarkets searching and asking for this. I have used this twice now and I think it imparts terrific flavor to the seafood before they get dunked in my homemade Boiling Crab Whole Shebang sauce. When I don't want to go through the trouble of making the separate sauce, I am happy to just boil my seafood in this (according to instruction). De-shell the critters and dunk in melted butter. YUM! Note that I boil my seafood and take it right out. But the instructions tell you to leave your seafood soaking in the boil water for longer for stronger flavor. In my opinion, I think you can follow directions the first time and once you figure out how to use this, just do what you like. Anyway, the product is great and you cannot beat the price on desertcart. I paid $5 thanks to Subscribe and Save and when I opened the box, HOLY MOLY, I was amazed as the size of the canister. If you use this according to instructions, you should be able to boil: 50 lbs. of shrimp - OR - 40 lbs. of crayfish - OR - 5 dozen dungeness crabs! I don't know if I will ever eat that much seafood in my lifetime...but I'm going to try. I saw the 4 oz. Zatarain's liquid seafood boil at my local supermarket for $6. This is at least 12 times that in volume. If you're big on seafood, you'll probably want to go with this.
Review: Congrats Zatarain's! Well done! - Being from Louisiana and having had some of the best boil mixes from several of the seafood shops there, I was a little skeptical on using this. I had extra salt, cayenne, lemon, garlic, etc on hand to jazz this up if it was disappointing. It was not. This was a great product and much better than other Zatarain's boils. After purging the mudbugs, I just emptied the contents of one of these into my 80qt pot, filled it with enough water to cover the crawfish, and let it come to a boil. The smell was amazing. After cooking the first batch, I was impressed with the flavor, though, for my taste, it could have been a little bit saltier. When boiling the second batch, I added another 1/4 of a container (I had bought two) and they came out PERFECT! Just the right spice, just the right salt. It was enough heat to get the uninitiated sniffling, but not too much so that they were unwilling to continue to "pinch the tail and suck the head"! Great product. I will definitely be using this again for all my future boiling needs!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this mix contain MSG? The ingredient list only reads a generic 'spices' but nothing specific.**
A: I specifically use pro boil because it does not contain msg. I am highly sensitive to msg and pro boil is one of the only boils I can use.

**Q: How much would I need to do a boil in a 42 quart pot?**
A: If you are using a 42 qt pot then im assuming that you will only be boiling about 15lbs of crawfish. A Pro Boil is usually made for 1 sack of crawfish (which is about 35lbs). Half of the Pro Boil should work depending upon how spicy you want it and how much other "good's" you have going in there. Also the longer you soak the crawfish in the pot after boiling the more seasoning they will absorb and the spicier they will be. Also remember that as you boil more batches, they will get spicier as you add more seasoning.

**Q: Is this basically the same as the regular crab boil from Zatarain? http://www.amazon.com/Zatarains-Pre-Seasoned-Crab-Shrimp-Ounce/dp/B009K6RAO4/**
A: This guy is a bit spicier with more seasoning in it. While the regular stuff says no need to add anything, pro boil is much more complete. I use the regular to initially season the pot with some other ingredients, and then the pro boil lightly between batches.

**Q: Do you sell zataraines creol mustard?**
A: No
