Might Fine Idea
I really enjoyed reading these raps to my six year old, even though he might not be quite old enough for them yet. As a drama teacher I have taught many Greek tragedies to a variety of year groups and exam groups, but I found Tony Mitton's raps a really refreshing way to bring the stories alive. Thankfully the Round Eye Rap rather glosses over the detail of how the Cyclops is blinded and the gore of "Troy" is replaced by a sense of laddish challenge, but you still get the sense of the heroic in the tales.I am very thankful for my primary teachers telling me many Greek myths and I am now determined to pass on those stories to my children. The raps are a grest start. I also plan to use the book with my Drama GCSE classes. Thanks for a super book. The only downside? I would have liked more than two raps in the book. How about the "Menelaus Wife Hunt Rap" or "Paris and the Pretty Choice Rap" as well?
