Exactly what they claim to be: Muscle Flash Cards
These are muscle flash cards. They are very good muscle flash cards. They are meant to use to learn five aspects of each muscle. Look at the front of the card with an illustration of the muscle, showing insertions, origins, related bones. Identify the muscle name. Then recite the origin, insertion, action, nerve supply and synergists. Turn the card over and validate your responses. Get it wrong, and review. Move to then next card. Perfect! Very good representations of individual muscles, and in some cases, sections of a particular muscle. ( the Trap is represented with an upper, middle and lower division; a card for each) There are also cards to represent specific muscle groups. These are pictures, representations, and may not be overly relevant if you are studying a cadaver.Compared to other cards like this they are more economical, better illustrated, and more to the point. Kaplan's anatomy flashcards are by far more informative and cost effective. BUT they are not muscle flash cards. They contain a lot of information on each card, and require detailed study of each card. They are the most cost effective for the information provided. But they are not flash cards in the old grade school kind of concept of multiplication tables. Bryan Edwards sticks to the old concept: Name, orign, insertion, action, (sometimes also reversed origin insertion action), nerve supply and synergists. As the box says they are built for repetition. The cards are a bit tightly packed. One has to be careful about getting them in and out of the sleeve box. This will likely get worse as time goes on. I have noticed wear on the box as a result. The box could be a bit bigger to accommodate expansion of the cards. The cards are a bit thin, but of reasonable thickness. You have to be careful not to bend them. A careless person will mess them up in time, and complain about the quality, which is very good considering the price. If you are looking for a way to learn the muscles, then buy these cards. Use them for a month or two, day after day. Go to bed with a section in your hand, look at them when you eat, sit and go through them when you take a break from your text book. Learn them well. You will never regret it.These cards will not teach you. They will not magically eliminate the need to study and learn, but guaranteed, they will make it easier and make you more understanding of the muscles, and more able to say "Oh, it looks like its your levator scapulae that is giving you a problem. I've treated that issue before." ...or some other vignette along the same lines...greater help to your clients or patients and money in the bank. good luck, do good, and prosper.aloha, from Lomilomi land.

Muscle flash Cards- What a life saver
I bought these for my step daughter who is currently in a physical therapy program at Western Carolina. These muscle cards have helped her a great deal with Anatomy. She is able to accurately study, muscle insertion and injection for each muscle. She has several times commented how very helpful the pictures are. These cards have been a great help for those short down times. While waiting for your turn for an appointment, stuck in a traffic jam, waiting for study partners, they are easy to take and go through several. She will keep them and continue to use them throughout her program.

Good illustrations
Standard size. The cards have good decent illustrations. Muscles with more than one fiber direction are presented on multiple cards, so you really get to see each portion of the muscles up close. Origins and Insertions are included. It would be great if the cards were punched and little ring holders were included for each muscle group. The only thing lacking are actions. I wish they would have included the actions. That's why I couldn't give these 5 stars. For a Clinical Massage Therapist who doesn't do wellness bodywork, its so necessary to thoroughly know the muscle's actions in trying to figure out and isolate the structure that is having problems. Many Clinical Therapist only treat clients with specific problem, but the cards are good for all Therapist in all modalities and for Massage Therapist that have related professions; Massage Therapist/Personal Trainer, etc....For me, I like the handy size of these, but I found using one of the muscle coloring books most helpful in really understanding fiber directions and muscle locations. It was something about having to color over the muscles that helped me. Netter has a good coloring book. These are useful study tools for the NCBTMB exam. I just finished reading an email. In 2011, NCBTMB will offer advanced cerification for Massage Therapist....no word yet on the cost of the exam.

Lots of information
Compares to the other cards I got these have a lot of information on them. I like it though. More information than I need but its helps to describe the muscle a little bit more.Depending on what you need them for, I would say they help a lot. I study with these before I got the cards I really neede and It worked just fine. They are a little boreing in appearance, no colors and kinda old looking. But they have the information you need. Nothing has changed since the 1800's (exaggerating)

Good information but flimsy
I like these cards for the information, but I was disappointed that they were printed on very flimsy stock. They would be best if they were laminated, as handling them tends to bend and soil them quickly. I also felt that they could have had additional information regarding Massage Therapy, which is what I bought them for. They could have referenced what type of massage techniques to use.

Great study aide
These really helped get me through some challenging kinesology classes. They are detailed and specific and have a lot of information on them so you can practice testing yourself in different ways. The pictures were easy to work with and well portrayed.Oh and the price was fair too. Which is always a plus. And you can always find another student who would love to use them after you are done.
