I don't usually review products, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I have been looking for a sand free mat for awhile and there are lots of expensive ones out there with mixed reviews. This one had only a few reviews so I was skeptical, but for under $20 I took a chance and ordered it anyway. I have used it at the beach 3 times now and am still very happy with it. Prior to having this mat, I would sit on a beach towel and it would end up getting annoyingly sandy within minutes of being at the beach. Now, I still bring a beach towel and use it on top of the mat for comfort, but my towel stays clean!Pros:- Dry sand falls through automatically and very little comes back up- Wet sand falls through and stays away with the brush of a hand- You can rub the mat against sandy limbs to clean them- Pretty large - big enough for a family of 3-4- Mat itself stays very clean (Sand doesn't get trapped inside the layers after use)Cons:- Will let a little sand back through if the sand underneath it is not flat (seems to work best on level sand)- Mesh is not super comfortable to sit directly on (bring a towel to use on top)I'm very happy with this mat and won't go the beach without it now.

I loved this beach mat. I read through the reviews and was a little worried that is wasn't going to work. I will agree that some of the bigger rocks in the sand tended to stay on the top of the mat but that didn't bother me. The main reason I got it was to help keep the sand off me and my stuff and it worked perfect for that. I believe it is a must have when going to the beach.

was looking for something not too expensive for beach activities with my kids. When putting this in front of my sport tent, it never gathered sands from kids’ wet sandy feet. Kids could sit on top of it with their wet sandy swimsuit to eat and then went back to play on sand. The holes on the mat are big enough to release the sands to the ground. On the other way, when pushing harder, the sands will show up on the mat and then go away. But, if really cared about the sands come up, folded it becoming double layers mat and the sand will never come back. I also think it would be a good idea to put this outside a tent when camping. But, not suggest this to any wet floor/grass. It can’t stop your pants getting wet.

sand just comes up through the mat when you sit on it... it's easy to get the sand off when ready to leave but it will not prevent you from getting sandy yourself.Update: Very good seller, updating to 4 stars because they gave me a refund without asking. This mesh mat is great if you're looking for something that won't bring sand with you back from the beach. It just won't prevent sand from getting on you while sitting on it.

I love the beach and always wanted to spend the day laying on the beach without getting sandy. This helps with that. I don't have to keep brushing sand off of me, my things or the blanket. You know how you usually leave your bag on the sand because you dont want to get your blanket dirty. No need to with this.Cons: If you press to hard sand will come up. Next beach time I'll place my old beach mat underneath to stop sand from coming up.Pros: Sand goes through quickly! Which is exactly why I bought it! I got the 79x79 and it's huge! We're a family of 3, our slippers, 2 beach chairs and 4 bags of food and snacks fit comfortably.We got ketchup on it, it washed off easily. When it was time to go home, it was easy to shake off any excess sand and fold it right back up in the carry bag, whuch was great because sometimes carry bags are too small for the items.

This is a lifesaver. I take the family to the beach several times over the summer and hate that I bring back home enough sand to build a sand castle! It's a good size too. Enough to fit my family of four comfortably with all our food! This blanket comes with pins for the corners to prevent flying away in the wind. I have found it to be effective enough when the ground is more solid that just dry sand. This also came with a little pouch to keep it in, which is nice, so I can roll up the towel and just keep in my garage with all my other beachy things. It doesn't have the texture of a towel or blanket, so it's not "soft" but it will keep the sand off, if that's what your going for.

Ok, so it never occurred to me that if the sand can go past the blanket that it can also come up. I originally was going to place the blanket outside my tent to have people wipe before coming in. Well that was a no-go. When I laid the blanket down the sand came up.So instead I used it in my tent and placed it on my tents floor. Luckily that worked like a charm, I never got sand on my inflatable bed because all the sand would come off when people walked on the sand.

We Loved the Sand Free Beach Mat. This was our second family beach trip with our son. He was too little last year to walk and got sand all in his eyes and everywhere else. But this year we ordered this mat hoping it wouldnt be too "sandy". and it stands by it's claims. Our son can walk now, but the sand was down underneath the mat, so he was able to take naps comfortable and not get sand everywhere. easy to pack up and store. It also came with four stakes to put at the corners of the mat into the ground to keep it in place. Will definitely be purchasing a larger one for next year :)

Works really well for keeping sand away! The sand falls through the top exactly as expected. However, the mat itself is made of a hard-ish plastic material...it’s kind of like laying on a fishing net. However, that was easily fixed by throwing a towel down over the mat

Loving the size of the blanket it's over 6 ft by 4ft so it's fantastic for spreading out and keeping all of your goodies and supplies for the day whether at the beach or camping etc.The blanket is made up of two different layers with the pattern going opposite ways like a grid , this is so that the sand is kept off of the top of the blanket's top layer.We used the blanket underneath a blanket and towels and it definitely makes a HUGE difference. Wet sand falls completely off of the blanket and adds an extra layer (actually two) between you and the sand or grass. Just simply lightly shake the blanket when done and the sand falls off easily. A huge seller for me was the fact that the blanket comes with 4 anchors on the the corners and 4 pegs (like tent pegs) in order to secure the blanket to the ground which is a sure plus in the wind etc.It also comes with a handy bag to store and for travel and the material also keeps sand and water off. I will be keeping the blanket inside my vehicle for quick and easy access and on hand for family and sporting events.

I am so glad I bought this beach mat. It works exactly as it claims too. The sand would pass through but larger pieces like shells would stay on surface to be brushed off. You would need a towel or blanket to sit comfortably and sand free though. Only small amount of sand can push back up through if you lie on it and stick to you if you lie directly on it. Comes with 4 stakes and didn’t move even on windy days at the beach. I wish they offered a reasonably priced larger mat too.

It was great on the beach. Keeps the sand off and stays dry. Comes with a handy bag and 4 pegs to keep it flat on the sand. We used it for our trip to Mexico and loved it.

Nice big size and it does filter the sand through the holes. Note- it is not a beach towel. It is a mesh blanket that the sand goes through.

This is an amazing invention! You do need to bring a towel or blanket to put on top of it because it’s a little rough in texture. I have never been to the beach before and have my stuff sand free until now! Great purchase!

Bought this for our Hawaii trip, expecting it to be a good solution for our 6 nonth baby who can only roll around. Really didn't work at all. Sand came through the bottom when you stepped on it, and sand didn't "fall" through as advertised. Totally disappointing gimmick.

I bought this expecting to be able to use it on the beach and not be covered in sand. While the sand does not stick to it once you shake it off, the sand does come up from underneath and there is no protection. Towels laid on this are covered in sand, completely defeats the purpose. I do not recommend and will return if I can after having used it.

Great product, exactly as described, don't know if more then 4 can fit, and really is convenient to take with the bag that came with it. Can't wait to test it out

It does a good job in keeping the sand away. The bag that carries this mat doesn't last very long, it falls apart quickly. Plus I was shorted a peg in the package. Only received three instead of four.

I wouldn't say that this product is sand free or sand proof. When I placed it on the uneven beach, sand came up through it immediately. I could not come out of the lake and sit on this mat without getting sand stuck to my wet bathing suit. However, the sand does slip through it well when lifting it up as well. I wasn't sure what to expect about the sand proof claims but it definitely is not useful for the purposes that I intended it for.

Used this at the beach and it was really helpful at minimizing how much sand I brought home. Definitely made use of the pegs to hold it down as it is very lightweight. The pegs were great and seem super sturdy.
