Worth four times the price!
Wow! So incredibly sturdy, well made, well packaged and EXACTLY what I wanted, but wasn't expecting. The racks arrived well packed, a day ahead of the time I was told, wrapped in bubble wrap with the ends in cardboard, and all that in another cardboard box. Not a bare spot or exposed metal on any part of this. HEAVY. Not so heavy that I, a 60-year old woman in average to poor physical condition couldn't lift them to the roof of my van myself, but still HEAVY. The rubber templates to protect the car roof from the metal were easily affixed and can be pulled off and repositioned if you need to. I think these would easily qualify as commercial racks due to their sturdiness. They're larger than I expected and yet, they easily fit on my 2000 Dodge Caravan with the tubes totally closed. I have no doubt they'd fit everything from a passenger car to a Ford Transit or Sprinter van. When I buy my Sprinter I'm going to buy another set of these racks. They came with everything needed, although you WILL have to buy longer bolts if you're not installing these in a stripped down cargo van. For a cargo van, the bolts are the perfect size. For a passenger car, not so much if you have to go through insulation etc. I just insulated my van's interior roof, so I will try installing with what they sent, along with some LockTite so I don't have to go back into the roof to tighten them again. Ideally, I'd weld them to the interior roof so I could just tighten them from the outside. I may use epoxy to secure them to the interior roof since I don't know how to weld and WILL check them each time I put a load on them.Other things I'm thinking: filling the bolt holes with a butyl sealant to ensure they don't leak. Here's what I found online. [...] You can buy it anywhere I guess, but for less than $6 is a deal.Tips for drilling holes in your car/van roof: [...]It's threatening to rain today, and while I wanted to install these for a 3-day fishing trip tomorrow, it may be another week before I get them bolted on. It LOOKS like about an hour long job, only because I need to measure, then to drill, then to expoxy the nuts (not required for installation but something I want to do), then to square the racks (Measuring - the instructions are included in the directions. See the photos I included.Things I want to ensure go right: That I leave room for the Fantastic Fan I plan to install in a couple of weeks. That I put them far/close enough apart that when/if I want to add a cargo rack on top they will fit. These will easily hold solar panels, although I'm going to use flexible panels so I can still carry my kayaks on them. I have two, 14-foot kayaks that weigh 45 pounds apiece. These racks will easily handle that. I think I could put a platform of 3/4 plywood on them and create a sleeping platform! VERY sturdy. Seriously, getting these racks for my kayak, then seeing how freaking sturdy and strong they are has opened a whole new realm of possibilities for them!I strongly reccommend buying them if you don't have gutters or a place to attach a rack. They are commercial grade, well contstructed and the hooks or knobs that are the tie-downs are very, very big and could be used with rope, bungie cords or the rubber cords truckers use. Anything you strap to these racks is not going anywhere. Have never been so pleased with a purchase. Awesome!

RUSTED!! 1 month after installation - Already RUSTING!!!
Looks like a lazy company just didn't want to add an extra few coats of rustoleum on this product. That's okay, I'll just do it myself.
