Material Type:Stainless Steel | Size Name:3/4" Don't be fooled by imitations, PLYLOX Hurricane Window Clips are the only independent lab tested and hurricane proven tension clip on the market. They have always, and will always be proudly made in the USA with American made steel. Experts say that the most vulnerable part of your home during a windstorm is your windows, and the best way to protect your family and your home is to cover your windows. PLYLOX clips make it quick and easy to board up your home so that you can focus on other important issues. To use, simply measure your window casing and be sure that your windows are inset at least 2-1/2" to 3" deep. Once this is established, measure the height x width of the inside of your window casing. Subtract 1/4" from that measurement and cut your plywood to these exact dimensions. Take your clips out of the bag and slide them onto the vertical sides of your plywood. You will need to first place them about 6" from the top and bottom of your plywood shutter, and space them according to the chart in the last picture. If they do not fit tightly on your plywood, simply place the tension leg down on a flat surface and with the heel of your hand, push down on the area of the clip that goes on the plywood until they fit snug. Next, place your plywood shutter system into your window frame, then give it a firm push into the casing. Once you are done, move onto the next window and repeat the process. Once the storm has passed, simply use your fingers behind one side of the clips and remove the tension. Your shutter should pop out of the casing. Store your PLYLOX in a safe, dry space for future use.

These things are amazing. I just went through Hurricane Irma
These things are amazing. I just went through Hurricane Irma. I already had some Plylox and installed 10 windows in less than 30 minutes. I just bought 6 more cases so I can do the rest of my windows. These locks went through 115+ winds and never budged an inch. Very simple to remove. I leave mine right on the boards (be sure to mark the boards for which window) and strap them to the garage wall to keep boards straight. Neighbors took a whole day to install their shutters with wing nuts. I did night in less than 30 minutes. Took longer to unstrap the wood. 3 neighbors have them and they all worked like there are suppose too.

MUST HAVE item in hurricane prone areas.
These clips are a lifesaver for hurricane preparedness. They slide easily over the edge of the plywood and make it simple to cover windows without drilling holes. We have boards cut to fit our windows stacked in our garage and when storm season rolls around we simply slide the clips onto the edge of the wood and push the boards into the window and door frames. The "teeth" on the edge grab the frame and hold the wood in place.

Great for easy install of plywood for hurricanes
I have used these before in the past and just ordered another pack to make sure I have plenty on hand for this summer. These are great and make putting up plywood shutters quick and easy. they are bit challenging to remove, but once you figure it out you'll be able to pop them out with a screw driver very quickly. Do understand that these may cause some minor damage to your paint or stucco when removing, but nothing that can't be easily fixed, and it's nothing that would prevent me from recommending these. I wish I could use these on 2nd story windows as well but they won't work due to frame construction up top. I have 9 windows on the lower floor of our house, and with these I can cover them all in less than an hour. I did find that it's helpful to use a single screw to secure them to the plywood while installing, especially with the larger windows. Do yourself a favor, buy a bunch of these, I recommend 6-8 per window, go ahead and precut your plywood so that when a storm is coming you are ready and don't have to be cutting while rushed/stressed.

Works good on windows with 3-1\2" inset and 5\8" to 0" taper on the sides.
Well made, used on windows that are inset in a concrete block stucco wall, windows are inset 3-1\2" with a 5\8" to 0" taper on the sides, they locked the plywood in tight. Did scratch the paint on a test panel when pushing in, but next time will try putting some aluminum flashing or plastic between the clip and wall when I slide it in, then remove flashing to lock it in place, will slip flashing or plastic between clip and wall to remove, should eliminate most or all scratching. NOTE: according to the instructions for spans greater than 48" you need to screw 2x4s to the top and bottom of the plywood.

Great for hurricanes if you have brick
Bought these to be able to put plywood boards in my windows on the brick sides of my house. They grip well and hold the wood in place. Survived a cat 3 hurricane with no damage to windows (just dinged up wood). Make sure you measure the thickness of your wood before ordering the appropriate size plylox. Each one has a hole in the metal so you can permanently attach the metal to the wood if you want. I just put them on without permanently attaching them. A hammer or rubber mallet is good for pounding them into place. When pulling the boards off you may need a claw hammer or something like it to pry the boards loose from the window. After use they may need to be bent back into shape, but they are reusable. Used mine 3 times now. Well worth the cost compared to a new window.

Did not fit in older Florida stucco home.
I bought the 3/4 inch to use with some 3/4" plywood. After cutting plywood as directions stated and making sure it fit into window, I tried it with the clips. The clips were too long and would not make it into the window frame. This is an older florida stucco house. I tried cutting the board smaller and it still would not work. You must need super deep window sills. Luckily the plywood was free or I would have been upset wasting a sheet. I now have to go for the barrel bolt or anchor method. I really wanted this to work but I had to get a refund.

Super easy installation.
These things made it relatively easy for 2 girls to create a hurricane "safe room" in a concrete block house that has no such thing as an interior room. The only difficulty was finding, transporting, and cutting the plywood. Installation was easy. I bought some to use at my wood frame house also but discovered that they won't work with my windows. Not their fault, I have no sills. I was thankful for a sturdier dwelling to borrow and the peace of mind these gave me that allowed me to sleep through at least some of the storm. There was one very solid bang of a tree branch hitting that may have broken the window without the plywood. Without these I am not sure how we would have been able to get the plywood to stay in. Removal was not as easy but we managed and they did not cause any damage. I wouldn't want it to be too easy to remove I guess or it wouldn't be safe.

Great and you can easily reinforce for rock solid protection.
Great option for storm preparations. Measure correctly and cut and fit the wood before you are in the scramble before the storm. Also a 2x4 connected via a L bracket to the center of the sheet and dug down about 2 feet in the ground will further secure it with the clips. We had made it through cat 3 irma impact with that method.
