Haworthias are very popular these days, both for the species and unusually in the C&S world also for cultivars and hybrids. Although there has been a lot published in recent years on these plants, there has been little for the average or enthusiastic collector since Pilbeam's book was published 25 years ago before colour photos became universal. So this new book which covers many of the most attractive cultivars as well as the species and illustrated in colour is sure to be welcome. Brief introductory sections cover their characteristics and habitat, after which the main part of the book looks at the species and cultivars following Bayer's 2008 Classification with separate sections for forms which don't fit neatly with a species and inter generic hybrids. Final sections provide views on where the cultivars might develop in the future, variegations, close up views of leaves and cross section, cultivation, pests etc and finally propagation. All well presented as we have come to expect from this author and publisher.
