Celt Sport Alloy Downhill Mountain / BMX Bike Stem - 45mm x 31.8mm

I needed a shorter stem than the one that came on my small son's new mountain bike. (The original one on his new bike was 100 mm in length) Since this was only $10, I decided to purchase it on a whim. It came two weeks later from Taiwan (I believe) and was in good condition. (no metal fatigue or bending) The steering tube diameter of this stem is 28.57 mm (1 1/8 inch standard) and the handlebar diameter is 31.8 mm (for oversized bars). The distance from the center of the steering tube to the center of the handlebar is indeed 45 mm as advertised. And the six bolts used for clamping appear to be reputable 75000 PSI steel bolts that can withstand a decent amount of torque. The entire stem with bolts only weighs 87 grams and I installed it with no problems.Now, my son can easily reach his the handlebars on his new bike and his center of gravity is that much better due to the nicer fit. For my son's needs, this stem worked very well and is five stars.

For the price the stem is amazing. It seems extremely durable for my downhill mtb.

For the price, it's the same function as an $80 stem.
