Smaller than I expected but functionality is fine and it’s cased in sturdy metal.
I received my AVHACK 3x1 Switcher. I was apprehensive as the picture on Amazon is different from what the reviews are for. All the review are for a splitter not a switcher, there is a difference so the reviews are for a different device not the one pictured. So if you also are confused, it’s because they need to move reviews over to the splitter device not the switch box I purchased. It is a little smaller than I expected fits in Palm of your hand, I imagined it to be about as large as my iPad in length for some reason. First off, you will need to have a place for it that is close to your tv. I put mine on top of my Xfinity Set top box (dvr) as the pictures I took of device show. I could not run my Cable box through it to the Tv, it just wouldn’t work, not a big deal, I just left CableBox HDMI cable in one of the 3 hdmi ports my LG 55” 4k tv has. I also left my AppleTV4k streaming device connected into the tv. The device does not come with an HDMI cable so you will need one to run from device to the Tv. I have a few xtra on hand. And if you have a 4k TV you may want to use a 4k certified compatible HDMI cable from switched to the tv. The picture quality that runs through the device seems just fine, I noticed no downgrade in picture quality, I wanted a device that was HDCP 2.2 not 1.4, this is important for 4k quality and many of the switchers did not offer that, and it seems to be right on point, so if maintains a great picture is important to you, I am satisfied with AVHACK picture quality. I decided to run my Roku 4k, Amazon 4k firestick and my Panasonic Blu Ray player out of the AVHACK switcher. It identified the connections without issue. I did have to focus and rename my HDMI icons on my TV so I knew what was what, and I wrote down the 3 devices I hooked up through the switcher on a small piece of paper and taped it to the back of the remote control that doesn’t include two AAA batteries, did it for reference for my wife and myself . I did have an issue trying to figure out how to rename the ROKU that appears on which device is being used at the moment to BLU RAY player. The remote works fine, but needs a clear line sight to operate correctly. As I said, make sure your have room or a place to sit the switcher near hdmi ports. Unless you have really long HDMI cables. Mine are 3 feet so that’s not very much length to put the device exactly where I wanted to. It seems just fine on top of the cable box. You can manually switch to whatever device you want to use or use your remote. The switcher comes with a power cord you will need to plug into a power source. The manual says to not leave power on when not using, it recommends not to let run for long periods of time so be aware of that, I don’t want something catching fire because when you look at all the devices attached to it and it’s just a small box the size of your palm you wonder to yourself “ can this handle all the current coming from it) they will mail you an HDMI cable if you review their product but I recommend having one on hand first so you can operate the switcher first but an xtra one for free is good with me, can never have enough HDMI cables. I have owned this device for 4 hours and it worked right out of the box which I read many people have problems with, non functioning devices right out of the box. It is mailed in a plain brown rectangle box, nothing fancy but compact, and nothing was broken. It is sturdy to the touch, not cheap plastic casing, real alloy, so that gives you a sense of encouragement for longevity. But I only wished it were a little longer and the hdmi ports were a little bit more spaced apart, they are very close together and I have big thumbs and had to move devices from one port to the other to find the right combination for spacing. If anything happens negatively I will update that, but it works fine now. Also the red power light stays on even after turned off which I wish did not. I wished I had ordered the 5x1 because I know myself and will end up buying something else I don’t need to hook up to the tv, I mean three 4k streaming devices is unnecessary but if one dies I have a backup, and I like all 3, Roku,Apple and amazon firestick, all for different reasons. Not sure why the Cable box would not run through but may try again later as I may have had HDMI cable running from Switcher to tv and not from cable box through the switcher. But for now I give AVHACK 4 stars for ease of use, performance out of box, but one star off for the size of device, maybe half a star off would be fair. For $29.99 it has relieved the issue of not having enough hdmi ports and I don’t have to keep pulling out the Roku when I need to play a dvd, which was starting to put wear on the port, so that’s a relief. And I wish for $10 more I bought the 5x1 device, but am content for now.

Great value!
This is a great device that works fine between my old Panasonic flat screen, cable box, Roku and Sony Blu-Ray player. My old old Panasonic flat screen TV has only one HDMI port which is already used by the cable box. I needed more HDMI connections yet I did not want to replace the flat screen as it has an excellent picture and color (better than newer models) and yet, in order for me to use the Roku or Blu-Ray units I had to unplug the cable box, and reconnect any of the other devices. This was awfully awkward and always at risk of pulling my back reaching out for the connection in the back of the TV! I researched for many solutions until I finally found this gadget. The perfect solution! Once I connected everything I easily change between devices using its remote control unit and from the comfort of my recliner. One recommendation to the manufactures will be improve the remote control to something more comfortable to the hand, maybe make it bigger? Also sometimes the response on the switch-box signal may take a second or two to detect the new device but other than that, it works perfectly. It's been more than 6 months now using it and I love it!!

(UPDATED) Worked great!.. until failed...
UPDATE: Nice customer service saves the day! Replacement in the works! Thanks, folks!Worked great out of the box, for a little over a month, then the picture on the tv it was attached to started to blink on and off. This progressively turned into a constant problem, with the the screen turning on and off, on and off. No such issues when this switch was removed from the equation. Came right back as soon as I reattached it. Outside the return window, which is a bummer... :(

FINALLY!! An autoswitcher that works with Roku!
All I wanted was to find an HDMI autoswitcher that works with Roku. I know the technology exists because I used to have a Kinivio about 5 years ago that autowitched seamlessly with a Roku and a blu-ray player. But I was going crazy trying to find something that worked today. I tried 4 - count em- 4 switches, Univivi, Kinivio, Hornbill and FiveHome, all of them claiming to auto-switch, but sitting there like dead boxes when it came to Roku. And then lucky number 5: AVHack.I put my Blu-ray player on slot 1 and the Roku on slot 2. When I turn the Blu-ray on, it switches automatically to the blu-ray. When I turn the blu-ray off, it switches automatically back to the roku. I have young children - trust me, autoswitch is a god-send. Thank you AVHack. So if you're like me and need something that is smart enough to work with something that is always "on," this is it.

Audio lags
I got this because my vizio TV only has one 4k hdmi port and I want to use it for a ps4 pro and a firestick 4k. Out of box the switch works, but does not include an hdmi cord, just the switch. It works fine with my ps4, but I get audio lag when I use the 4k firestick. I have kodi installed on the firestick and it plays video's from an NAS drive connected to a Raspberry Pi board. Whenever I play a video I get bad audio lag and it desyncs audio and video. I've tried playing different resolutions and it doesn't matter.Second issue is the remote for the switch IR uses the same frequency as my vizio sound bar. So every time I turn the volume down, it turns off the switch and vice-versa. It's a pain in the @$$ but the bigger issue is the audio lag for me.

Great little 3 port switch
I ordered this switch because I wanted to be able to switch between my Media PC, PS4, and PS3 without getting up or forgetting to switch back. I got this device because it has a remote but to be honest I haven't used the remote once. The auto switch detects when a new device is coming online even if another device is already on. For example I leave my Media PC on all the time, so it defaults to that, but when I hit the power for my PS4 it switches over to the PS4 by itself. It's really nice. I've been using it for about two weeks so far with no issues. No lag, glitches, frame rate loss, or bleeding. I'm not using it on a 4K TV but on a 1080p but it works and looks great none the less!
