That difference in price quickly evaporated as I concluded I really needed 2 Easypros if I was going to make any progress at all in cleaning a very large CD collection and that eventually included a third Easypro when the first one expired. Nearly two years since purchase of the first Easypro and not even half way through resurfacing my collection, decided to get the Eyecon with the free Easypro thrown in. The EasyPro gets the job done but doing so is a tedious, time consuming process, especially if you are dealing with many cds that need all 4 steps. By using two Easypros together, you can get more done in a given length of time. After about two months of using the Eyecon, I can report that it is superior in all respects to the Easypro. In 15 to 30 seconds the Eyecon can clean most cds in one step as well as or better than the Easypro can in 4 steps. By extending that time to 45 or 60 seconds I find that the Eyecon does a creditable job of resurfacing even the worst looking cds with just the occasional cd needing treatment with the Easypro. Well, a bit over a month ago, the one glaring flaw with those machines (the plastic hinge) gave up the ghost and completely shattered. I looked all over the internet, but couldn't find a replacement in the $450 range that I originally paid for the machine. The best I could find was a Dual Arm machine direct from JFJ for $650. I didn't want to spend that much! So instead I opted to try this duo. What a mistake. The Easy Pro was always meant for consumers, not professional use. Even with alternating pads so that each one would have a minute to minute and a half rest between uses, they just get too hot to do more than a single disc repair every 20 minutes. On top of that, the finish is no where near as nice as what I was getting out of the Single Arm. Then there's the Mini Eyecon. While I like (LOVE) the idea of a single pad/ solution operation, it just doesn't do a good job! After a month of use I could never get the discs to not have swirls on them. It seemed like there was always too much solution on the pad or not enough. It got so that I'd use one pad for a couple discs, and then go rinse it off and let it dry for a couple days before using it again. Great if you have a boatload of pads to constantly rotate. Again, the finish of the disc never had that "like new!" look that my old Single Arm could attain. But what so what? You may be thinking. Expecting a $263 set of machines to do the job a $450 machine did seems to be asking a bit much right? I thought that too at first. The discs may not look as good, but if they work then deal with it you cheapskate. THEREIN LIES THE REAL PROBLEM! I've never had so many discs that look passable- come back defective. I've been using the machines for almost a month. Two weeks ago I came to the realization that I would have to test EVERY DISC I repaired to make sure it worked. I rarely had to do that with the Single Arm. For whatever reason, even though the discs would look sort of decent despite some swirl marks they just wouldn't read. PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, or 360, it didn't matter. The discs would pass visual inspection, but would not load. Oh, and people that have complained about cracking the center part of discs weren't lying. Had to toss plenty of PS1 and PS2 discs because these cruddy machines cracked them. Today I had enough. I feel bad returning something I used for a month, but I can't deal with these machines anymore. What I saved in money up front I'm losing in time messing around AND goodwill from my customers. What used to take me five minutes with the Single Arm is pushing 20 minutes with these, and then the games still don't even work. Didn't take all scratches completely off (only removes light scratches), but was very happy with the results. The buffing compound goes a long way (lasts for several uses). I repaired a few unreadable XBOX games and Music CD's. It is just a wonderful machine to own, especially if you own a large CD/DVD collection and/or if your kids are rough on their disc games.
