I am pleased with this book as a teaching tool and as an informative pice to add to my collection.

This book is a great way to introduce young readers to the civil rights movement in general and the Prince Edward County struggle in particular.As a student of these historical events I was delighted with the accuracy and new information.The book is beautifully illustrated with many touching photographs.Just well done. Excellent Loved reading it!

This book is about my first cousin - Barbara Johns and I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lived in this area but moved before this closing of the schools started.

My Grandmother, Carrie (Jefferson) Bigger is on the cover of the book "The Girl from the Tar Paper School". She's to the left, near the front.

Good historical book, with authentic photos and facts I never heard.
