Well. After a looooong delivery WAITING and a bit shorter re-delivery due to reel was shipped to different state... I finally got this 4000 size reel. So. First of all this 4000 size is compared to 4000 size Penn is much smaller, it is even a bit smaller than Abu Garcia orra sx3000 size. So size i got is not what expected from 4000. This reel does have some interesting oscillation and line lay mechanism and despite small size it easily took in a 200 yards of 20lb power pro braid. Again that is due to unique oscillation system which has a worm gear with extra reducing gearing mechanism. Overall quality is OK, it is NOT ALL METAL CONSTRUCTION THOUGH. Side plates are plastic. Also it comes with extra clear plastic protective casing that is I guess supposed to protect it even better from elements, but who cares. Inside, quality of that unique gearing with rollers could be smoother , this way reel will be much smoother. Other components are OK, despite missing plate on one of them 18 bb's. Oh btw, it was difficult to find 18 bb's in it, I guess 4 only in handle. And one on that protective cover. Other internals are as usual, with somewhat decent quality and materials.Handle, despite nice look on pictures is not as comfortable I prefer egg shape.overall handle looks OK, but it's folding mechanism could be a problem out there by the beach,with sand and saltwater. Spool is light and deep enough, But no charts of how much line it will take. Spool clicker is loud, which I like. Drag is smooth, but I wanted a bigger reel, especially as so it is positioned as SALT WATER REEL. Price.. well I paid $63 'n change, but you could find one for 45-50. So, for the price, this Chinese assembled (a highjacked design???Lol)Japanese designed reel is OK. Although some improvement of internal's quality Could only benefit it.I don't know how long it will last, but I expect at least one or two seasons on SALT water. We will see. And buy bigger size if you got used to Penn sizing, or similar. I wanna try 5000 or even their 6000 to match my 10.6 ft surf rod. Good luck. I think it worth 45-50 bucks. But not more than 50. I am a fan of Penn but Penn's, as it worns out, it gives a bird nests and snapped out backlash terror. So. Support Chinese industry, buy this Tokushima HK reels. Give it a try.
