Maxitrol 670 Natural Gas Regulator, 1/2-Inch

The former general contractor who built the house I recently purchased, referred hereafter as idiot #1, had 1 of his guys (idiot #2) attempt to fix a leaking gas regulator in my brand new gas fireplace. Idiot #2 opened it up and filled it up with pipe dope to "seal the leak". Surprise! That didn't work. The company that idiot #1 bought the fireplace from went out of business and there is no longer a dealer in the area for warranty work. Idiot #1 decided to try to fix it himself and cleaned out the pipe dope and filled a port with super glue. Well, it stopped leaking, but also no longer functioned. Idiot #1 tried to charge my escrow $500 for his "repair". Ha ha! I bought this regulator, installed it in less than 30 minutes. No leaks and the fireplace works perfectly! As long as the specs match your application, this is a great gas regulator.

It had right part number but did not fit

I had problems with a new fireplace install. The gas company meter has a regulator on it, the fireplace has a small internal regulator inside it. I had difficulty getting the fireplace to remain lit. I used my Dwyer manometer to measure the house gas pressure and found it was too high for the fireplace regulator. I installed this outside the fireplace, connected the fireplace to the output side of this regulator and all works great now!

Perfect for my AOG outdoor grill. My installer initially put in a regulator with fixed 4" w.c. and the heat was slow to come on. I read the manual and it called for 7" w.c. as normal but up to 10". I think the range of the Maxitrol 670 is perfect. Now instead of 400*F after 15 min, I get 640*F.

It solved my problem with my gas grill. Works great.

Seems to work great on my outdoor kitchen.
