The area to insert the console is so narrow that the console often pops out or stops charging. It is also difficult to actually get the dock to start playing on the tv. The button on top seems like it’s very hit or miss. I’d stick with the original licensed nintendo dock. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than official *by E***E on October 30, 2018* When I first set this up, I was ininitially concerned about it's small size and lack of cable management, but the switch sits stable and it feels cooler than Nintendo's dock. Air is allowed to flow through, and the back isnt closed in so heat can leave that way rather than sitting.Another big plus is that it has a 3rd USB port thats USB-3, so I have a 4 port powered USB 3.0 hub plugged into this with two ports used by Magic-NS and 2 for the Gamecibe adapter, which gives me 6 wireless controllers - 2 wavebords, and 2 PS4 controllers through the Magic-NS, and they work great, and I still have 2 USB-2 ports left in the front.My only real criticism is that the lack of weight makes it more difficult to pull the joycons off without moving the Switch and would have preferred some way to anchor this down, but I bought a joycon charger so I dont have to worry about accidental damage as I pick it up and I plan to build aomething to anchor it myself. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better Than Other Reviews Would Have You Believe *by M***Y on March 24, 2019* After reading a slew of bad reviews for this product, and then using it myself, I feel like it's gotten a little bit of an unfairly bad rap.First off, the issue of inserting the switch into it...I actually like how this is designed for that. Despite what others have said, it's not difficult at all. You simply pick up the stand, pick up your switch, line your eye up with the connectors, and insert it right in. Easy. What I like about it, is that I feel like it's actually putting very little wear and tear on the connector unlike the "slushiness" of the nintendo dock where it sort of "slides" in.Second, they are marketing this as a "portable" dock, not as a home replacement one. And for that usage, I think this one is definitely superior to the nintendo one. This one I can just throw into my suitcase, and the way it's built, very compact with no protruding things to bend or break, and the price I paid for it, I have no worries about it being damaged, or even taking up much space in my suitcase (like I did on a trip this weekend).Now that said, there are two things that I'm not thrilled with about it:1. It's price. The price seems low, until you factor in that it doesn't come with an hdmi cable, and more importantly doesn't come with a USB-C power adapter. When you factor those things in, this dock is actually pretty pricey, especially for the build quality (which isn't great).2. The button to push to turn it on "tv mode" is stupidly placed behind where you insert the switch... now how did a blunder like that make it into production?Anyways, I'm glad I have this device. If you travel a fair amount and like to bring your switch with you, then this may be an essential purchase.
