Probably great for most people, but not what we're after.
After buying, trying, then reading around, I learned why you can't find any solid 5 star child monitors on Amazon. People want contradictory things. What some people insist must be a feature is the complete opposite of what we needed. What most people want: A digital child monitor that filters out noise, stays silent most of the time, but broadcasts when it detects a subtle increase in room volume, then dims back down when the volume doesn't increase further. Most people want monitors to filter out breathing, fans, and white noise machines, keeping the parent's room silent. This unit does exactly that. What we want: Old fashioned analog style sound where we hear everything, never filtered, never dimmed down. We want to hear every creak and every loud breath. Our kids are sneaky at night, we need to hear them whispering or trying to get out of bed. Further, they insist on a white noise machine. The problem with this unit (and most other monitors) is that they treat white noise machines as baseline volume, and the monitor only broadcasts to us when the room's volume exceeds the baseline. So with a loud white noise machine, it requires an even louder kid to finally trip the parent side of the monitor. As a whole, the unit's quality was much better than the prior VTech we also just bought. The VTech's volume filtering was buggy and constantly woke us up. This Time Flys product filters consistently. I just wish this unit had an alternate setting to never dim the volume and never try to filter out the noise (give it to me all the time, nice and loud!) That would make this product great.Side note: the product weirdly ships with 2 power cables (USB) but only 1 USB power adapter plug. The company co-founder reached out to me, seems they want to fix this. Both items are rechargeable, so you can get by swapping the USB adapter plug every few nights. Additional USB power adapters are super cheap online as well (a lot of companies just give them out for free...).

OK as a basic monitor. Not as good as VTech.
If you are looking for a simple audio only monitor, I highly recommend the VTech ones over these (VTech DM221 is what I have). For the same price you get something that has more features, better battery life, easier to use, and better audio quality.However... we need two separate monitors for two separate (kids) rooms. I have read that you can't reliably use two separate VTech monitors together due to interference. We bought this monitor for the second room and have not had any issues with interference with the VTech.Pros:* Can use as a second monitor without interference with VTech* It does what it says... its a basic monitor.Cons:* It's the same price or more expensive as the VTech, but has less features, worse quality, and comes with only a single parent unit vs. two* Audio quality, especially talking back via the parent unit, is not great* There is a built in nightlight that you can activate via the parent unit... but there is no indicator on the parent unit to tell you if the light is on or off. We typically want the nightlight off because it is super bright... but it is annoying when I can't tell if the light is on or off without opening the door to look in the room.* The buttons are hard to use and not well placed. I often unintentionally hit buttons that I don't mean to because of their location, and the amount of pressure it takes to press them. It sounds silly, but it is really annoying... especially because of the stupid nightlight feature mentioned above. I often hit some buttons I don't mean to, and then I don't know if the nightlight is on or off.* The volume indicator on the parent light is really bright. Maybe a pro for some people, but I find it really annoying having this thing sitting next to my bed at night. We play music in my son's room, and that's often enough to make the lights on the parent unit go crazy. I don't *think* this is configurable, but could be wrong.* As far as I can tell, there is no sensitivity settings... just volume.Bottom Line:If you need an audio only monitor and don't have the Vtech... just get that one instead. If you need a second audio only monitor that doesn't interfere with the VTech, then this one is a basic monitor that will do the job... just not as well as the VTech. Surprisingly, I was not able to find many other audio only monitors aside from VTech... so as I second monitor I will live with this one for now.

Clear sound will buy again.
Needed a monitor for elder care for my mom, sleeping downstairs and we are upstairs. She is more secure she can call for help at night and we can talk to her with walkie talkie button on the parent unit. In our case, no static and clear sound even between floors. Wished we had this when taking care of my dad in hospice at home two years ago. Will definitely buy again and recommend to others.

Soooo happy with this purchase!!!
This is so easy to use! We've only had it for a week, but we really like it. It is very sensitive, so you will hear everything (like car doors closing outside), but it also picks up breathing noises, which is great. It took less than a minute to set up. The talk back sounds really nice; there's no static or robot voice. I'm really happy we went with this monitor!

Love it
Have owned several baby monitors over the years, this one is my favorite. It just works. Almost no background noise and the design is great too.

Simple. Easy to use. Good quality for its purpose.
We have a video monitor in our son’s nursery however we can only view him using the app on our phones which drains our battery very quickly. We recently moved him out of our room to his nursery and we needed something for night time that would alert us if he awakens. I didn’t want anything fancy just something simple that allowed me to hear his cries. This does the job perfectly for what we need. Simple. Easy to use. Volume control. Even has lights on the parent monitor to help alert you. However that is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. My sons nursery has a sound machine in it that plays all night. The lights do flash because of this. However it does not really bother us. I can see how it may bother some though.

Great product
Monitors work great between floors. Units are small and unobtrusive and very simple to use. Bought the units to communicate with an elderly parent 2 floors down, and have had no problems hearing her call out to me if she needs something. The ability to talk back to her is a big plus. No need to spend $100 or more if you're just interested in a basic monitor that works as promised.
