10 stars out of 5
I am only giving this book five stars because I cannot give it ten or more. This is by far the best baseball instructional book series I have read, and I own an entire 6-foot book case of them as well as having borrowed countless from the library. It figures that a UNCW Seahawk would be the one behind such a quality product. The quality of their college baseball program far surpasses their budget or the size of the college, as they show time and again that they can stand toe-to-toe with the Texases and LSUs of the world.I bought the book not realizing that Trent Mongero was the author, but only buying it based off the positive reviews. When I opened the book and watched the DVDs, I was shocked to be looking at Brooks Field, UNCW's ballpark, my alma mater, but also to be looking at Coach Trent, one of the best coaches (along with Coach Mark Scalf) I ever had. He was one of my coaches year after year at UNCW baseball camps, which I attended every year from the time I was 8 until I was 16. Those camps improved my game and my knowledge and my ability to explain the small nuances and subtleties of baseball and its mechanics exponentially. Every year I exited the summer camps as at least 3 times the player I was when I entered. What Coach Mongero shares with you in these books is a comprehensive view what is shared with gifted and fortunate young ballplayers at the world's greatest camps. You will not find a better baseball coach. You will not find a book series that explains so much as this one. You will not find a book series that explains so well as this one. Anyone blessed enough to have had Coach Mongero as one of their coaches can tell you the difference between him and almost any other coach you will encounter in life. And anyone who has had him can tell you that he poured his all into this book series and he nailed it. God bless you, Coach Mongero. The game needs more like you.Not only will this make you a better player... if you truly absorb this info and understand it and share it, it will make you a superior coach. You will understand things seemingly nobody else understands. Only one word of warning, and I do mean this in a serious way: if you coach with the tools and info Coach Mongero shares with you in this book, other coaches will be intimidated and spiteful of your skills and knowledge. You'll be exposing their lack of knowledge, and they may not take kindly to that. Good ole' boy networks that unfortunately exist in some levels of the game and in some regions may make you their target. Don't let that discourage you from improving the state of the game, which Coach Mongero is helping to do by publishing this book. Be warned, but also be grateful that this resource exists, which will allow more people to go out as knowledgeable and skilled players and coaches and raise the bar in our national pastime.A+, Coach Mongero!Go UNCW Omahawks!

Very good book for 11-14 year old baseball
Perfect book for 11-14 year old baseball with excellent insight for high school baseball and college reality.500,000 high School Players 40,000 College Players. Its not good enough to be a good high school baseball player to move forward. You have to be a great baseball player. You better start playing competitive baseball when you are 11 or 12 or you will be left in the dust.Coach Mongero destroys some myths that are propelled by the youth organizations that are more interested in themselves than they are in promoting proper development. Yes I am talking about that rubbish in Williamsburg, PA.

Back to Back Home Runs! Can't wait until the 3rd book comes out
Trent Mongero has done it again. I patiently waited for this book to be published, and it has met my expectations. If you coach youth baseball, then you need this book and the first WINNING BASEBALL book! As your group of kids progress and mature you need this book as the next building block in the development of your players or child. The book builds on the foundations established in the first book and progresses to the next level to challenge and teach your young ball players. As a coach, I use the teaching techniques found in "WINNING BASEBALL" to develop practice plans packed with fun and challenging drills for my players.

Both books are a must!
Both of Trent Mongero's books are a must own. No matter if you are new to coaching/playing baseball or if you are a seasoned veteran. There are some great tips and techniques he goes over. The DVD's are of great picture and sound quality and will not leave you second guessing what is expected from each drill. I am a varsity baseball coach, and even after so many years of my specific drills, I started utilizing quite a few of Coach Mongero's drills in my practices. These tips and drills are tried and true!

A Great Teaching Tool
Have already started to use this with pitchers and catchers. It has shown results in helping to change a catcher's throwing motion as once he saw it he really start to understand what we had been trying to get him to do.

Great follow up to Beginner to Intermediate
We purchased the Beginner to Intermediate for our T-ball-8 yrs old coaches and have had great feedback on how much these books help out both experienced and inexperienced coaches alike. This book is just the natural progression for our older team coaches, great book.

This book and video offered far more instruction than I had expected. Has helped my son's team's infield play tremendously.
