Well, in the instructions, it clearly states to remove the rubber gasket from the filter and put it on the lid portion if you want it to have an air tight seal in the fridge. I did that and have had no problem! This is the perfect size for myself and my husband, and i tend to make a batch nightly for us, but this is just right for us, and I really like that it's designed like a beaker so it's tall and skinny which fits in my fridge much better! I was very pleased with how it was packaged, considering how often glass items can become damaged in the mail. This aside, the quality of the cold brew maker is exceptional, especially given the low cost. The gasket is very good at keeping out fridge flavors, while the glass canister and stainless basket are exceptional at adding no additional flavors to the mix, unlike plastic parts found in lower-end products. The basket is doing an awesome job of keeping the grounds completely contained, and is also just the right size for addings heaps of grounds for rapidly making "cold brew concentrate." I fill up the coffee basket in my cold brew maker about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way with grounds and submerge it in the cold brew maker with about 24 ounces of water in it, then top it off from the top as needed. I let it sit in the fridge for 18-24 hours, then pour what I take in to work into a glass container to keep it fresh and clear of other fridge flavors. I typically pour 6 ounces of cold brew into a mug with ice, then add about two ounces of water to dilute it.
