Just did not fulfill it's purpose
So, even though we got a comfy cone for my Golden after his neutering, and that he really didn't seem to mind it, I still felt bad for him, and those cones are pretty large, and kinda heavy. So, thought this looked like a viable alternative. It did fit him well, and did not obstruct his face or peripheral vision. BUT, it in no way prevented him from licking the wound, he is a bigger dog, and has a longer tongue, so maybe it would work for smaller breeds. But, had to take it right off so he couldn't lick it and risk infection, and put the other cone on.

Works for the most part - as long as you have eyes on the dog
I like this a lot better than the e-collar and so did my dog. My dog had surgery on her back leg so the vet made her wear an e-collar. She could not move around much nor could she see very good with that on. Plus her ears started getting smelly from no air circulating inside the cone. That has cleared up since we switched over to the thingy but it did not take her long to figure out how to get the thingy of. She put her paws on the backside and pushed it over her head several times, especially at night. The inner tube should be a little tighter or provide a way to attach her collar to the thingy to keep it from slipping over her head. It could also be a few inches wider. The thingy bends fairly easily so she could still get to her back foot. I had to go back to the e-collar for night time but as long as I was home and could keep an eye on her, I let her use the thingy.

Depends on where stitches are...
I wish everyone would write which area of the body they are trying to keep thier dog from licking. I assume most are a spay/ neuter surgery site. My dog (corgi) had a vulvoplasty so her stitches were between her lady bits and butt. She was able to barely reach the stitches wearing this cone but I decided it was okay because 1. She wasn’t licking much & seemed to be leaving the stitches alone. 2. She was her normal self in this cone vs the hard plastic cone. She could sleep just fine, use the doggy door!! Eat and drink out of bowls without flipping anything over, and not hurt anything when she walked past. The benefits of this cone vs a regular shaped cone (even the comfy ones) are so great. I think if my dog had had a normal spay procedure, this cone probably would have prevented her from reaching the stitches in that location. Being able to lick her behind wasn’t ideal for our situation, but for someone with a different surgery site, that’s be a plus that they could clean themselves.

Good fit....but no match for my derermined doggy
I have a border collie, so I ordered the XL. I like how it's not tight around his neck and I THOUGHT it would be better for him to have a semi-comfy "cone of shame," and I'm sure it IS...BUT, sadly, it folds TOO easily and he just pushes it out of his way to get to his booboos.Doggy mom fail.

He loves it
My dog developed a skin condition requiring him to wear the e-collar for a protracted length of time. After the subsequent bruising on the back of our legs from the hard plastic collar I went in search of something a little more owner friendly. When this came, I was afraid it wouldn't work. He can still lick himself and will sometimes bite at his tail, so it does NOT completely block the back side of his body. However, my dog LOVES this thing. When I try to take it off of him he whines at me. I'm having to buy more just so that I can keep them clean so he can wear it all of the time...The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because he CAN still reach the area affected by the skin condition; however, he is much less likely to bite at the area with this on. We went from almost constant chewing on his skin to only 8-10 or so times a day when he's trying to bite at it. Which is drastically better, and allows him to get some sleep at night.

Great soft cone alternative!
Our pup, Sirius, has a histiocytoma on his paw that he is not allowed to lick. Per doctor’s orders, he needs to wear a cone until it goes away which can be weeks to months. As Sirius hates hard plastic cones (which pup doesn’t) this has been a wonderful alternative. He only weighs 22 lbs. but I ordered him a large and I am happy that I did. I can fit 3 fingers in but it isn’t tight and bothersome. Please measure your doggo’s neck size to make sure the fit for your dog is correct, as this collar is not adjustable.

still could easily reach his wound with the collar on
We have a 75 pound GSD puppy just got neutered. We wanted to buy this as an alternative for the E collar. He had hard time going through the doggie door with the e collar on. This would’ve been a great alternative if it worked. But unfortunately, we try the two largest size, and both of them were too small to do the job. He still could easily reach his wound with the collar on.

Didn’t work for my bendy puppy sadly
My dog was much happier in this than the cone after neuter. Unfortunately it didn’t take long for him to bend around it and reach his wound, so back to the cone we went. My puppy is gangly and bendy, I could see this working just fine for less limber dogs, like dogs with shorter necks/snouts.
