H.R. Giger's Biomechanics

Big fan of Giger's artworks dark aspect style i decided to purchase all three of his huge books. The other two Necronomicons didn't yet arrived so i srart with this one...Just...Wow...The pictures are a vivid quality with some portrait size. Good text to go with. Can't wait to get others. Just know that they're not getting any cheaper.

Isn't to everyone's taste. But the artwork is excellent.

This book in my opinion is not as good art wise as Giger's Necronomicon 1 and 2 books. But if you are a huge fan like me then it's a must have. Giger is the master of 21st century and 20th century art in my opinion.

Timeless Classic from a visionary innovator who birthed and entire genre. A must have for any Giger enthusiast.

Although this book does not feature art of the quality of Necronomicon (generally featuring his best artwork in my opinion) or Necronomicon 2, Biomechanics rounds off Giger's most productive period from the late 60s to the late 80s. (He did produce work for much longer than this of course.) Although there is an emphasis on his later work for most of the book, there are some wonderful pieces from his earlier years that are primarily created with ink and traditional techniques, as opposed to his later airbrush work. There are also some hilarious smaller works featuring mutants, often getting up to mischief, which demonstrate a playful side from his younger days.Incidentally, many will have had the opportunity to see a number of the artworks in Biomechanics from exposure to his HR Giger ARh+ book. This is available second hand for very reasonable prices and is a fabulous introduction to Giger and his ouvre.Unfortunately for those wanting a copy of Biomechanics I believe it is now out of print (as of 2020) and often very expensive to buy secondhand in good condition (£150 plus). However, if you keep you eyes peeled and look regularly you can get lucky and buy a copy that has been looked after for far more sensible sums. My very good copy just cost me £60 which I am very happy with.
