Decent projector on a budget
Test scenario:MacoBook Pro HDMI, various lighting situationsOverall first impressions:It's a cheap projector that isn't going to break the bank; but won't display in the brightest lighting conditions. I believe that the target audience here is for the multimedia home environment that can control ambient lighting conditions.Positives:Price is right. I scored one of these from a gold box deal here, and they come up on sale from time to time.Well worth the price of entry to display a large clear picture. This projector will come in handy when I'm traveling to display media when I'm in a place with no TV. The 1080p native chip inside this projector is indeed 1080p as described. It will display other resolutions, but 1080 is the ideal resolution. The handy kickstand is a nice feature. Time will tell how long this plastic kick stand will last though. The on board speaker is a nice feature. Not the loudest, but comes in handy in a pinch when you forgot to pack your bluetooth speaker.Lots of input sources. HDMI/VGA/SD card/USB is really nice for this price point.Minimal warm-up/shut down time. Because it doesn't throw off a lot of heat, there isn't a long delay to warm-up or shut down this projector.Negatives:Not the brightest projector out there. You're not going to display anything in a brightly lit conference room. There's no way that you're going to run powerpoint in a classroom unless you dim the ambient lights. You will need some distance to display a sharp image. This is not a short throw projector. Not a lot of color settings in this menu. Think Cool/Warm/Medium. There isn't a large range of options. No carry bag included. Would have been nice to have, but of course this would make the price go up.No lens cover. Just be careful and retract the lens all the way before traveling.I wish there was a second HDMI input source.I have used the projector to run Netflix, display powerpoint/keynote presentations and the projector displays everything with flying colors. As long as you don't have a lot of light creep in your room, you will be more than tickled with the image quality. Text is sharp, colors are accurate. Image is fast without lag. I'd imagine hooking this up to a playstation wouldn't be a problem.Would I recommend this projector?Depending on your situation, Yes. If you're looking for strictly a presentation projector that needs to display images in a brightly lit room... No. If you want to provide entertainment at home to potentially replace that LCD TV in a darker living room... Yes.

The only good thing about it was the return policy.
At only $249, I was skeptical about the quality of this projector. But the reviews were good so I gave it a chance. Now I'm positive the reviews were fake. Here's a list of all the problems I found.1. No zoom. The only way to adjust the size of the image is to move the projector forward or backward. So for me, to get the image size I wanted, I had to place the projector back about ten feet from the wall, which was exactly where my sofa was.2. Inadequate image controls. The colors were way off and there was no way to adjust the saturation or hue. The only things that could be adjusted were brightness, contrast, and sharpness. That's like needing to turn right or left but only having controls to go up or down. Super frustrating.3. The image was never quite in focus. Unless the projector was really close to the surface it was being projected onto (Which meant the image was really small), it was never fully in focus. I've included a picture that shows out of focus text. You'll see some pixelation, which is fine because I was projecting from ten feet away; but you'll also notice the words are blurred. Not cool.4. I'm sure there's a technical term for this, but parts of the image bleed horizontally into other parts of the image. If there's something really bright on the left side of the screen, everything to the right of it is noticeably brighter, too. I've attached an image of that, too. You'll see how there's two bright horizontal bars running across the actress's face. That's because on the left side of the screen, there was something bright and it bled across the screen. So, yeah, I was disappointed, but at least I'm getting my money back.

Very nice projector for the price
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this projector to use it in my conference room to display PowerPoint presentations. But of course my curiosity made me wonder how would it perform using it to play movies on it. The projector does an amazing job displaying my computer screen hooked up to it via an HDMI cable. Focusing was very easy and if you prop up the end, you can level out the display with the lever On the top. The projector reproduces colors a lot better then I expected it to at this price point. All of my PowerPoint presentations looked great on the wall. I decided to upload a video of what the projector looks like and also play a 1080p home video through it so you can see it what it looks like. I had previously purchased and returned a cheaper small LED projector on Amazon. This projector outperformed the other one by a mile. This projector does a decent job with movies. I don’t know that I would use it for that though.Pros: Nice reproduction of colors and black. Very heavy and sturdy unit. Remote control included. Menu is very easy to navigate thru. Can load a 32GB SD card with phots or video or on it on the projector and navigate to it using the menu. Has two USB inputs. I hooked up an HD with video on it and was able to navigate thru the files using the mouse. It did not recognize the AVI files that I had on the hard drive though. Guessing this may be a video codec issue and a firmware update may fix this.Cons: Fan is little loud but necessary to keep the LED bulb cool. You have to point the remote control to the front of the unit for it to recognize it. When I put the video on the vivid setting, it got a little saturated with brightness. But you can create your own personal “use” defined color and brightness set up which is nice.
