USB 3.0 to SATA IDE ATA Adapter 3 in 1 for PC Laptop 2.5" 3.5" HDD Hard Disk Driver with Power

I had my doubts about this adapter based on all the negative reviews I've been seeing on similar items. Upon opening the box, the adapter was much smaller than I expected. First, I tried it with an old IDE drive and it came right up. I then hooked-up a 3.5" SATA drive; it was instantly recognized. Same with my 2.5" SSD. I detached the adapter from these drives and re-attached them with no issues. I love this adapter! It works flawlessly each and every time.

This adapter has worked well and easily for every drive I have used it for. If I wanted a portable drive for regular use, I would prefer a drive designed for that purpose; but, for hooking up old hard drives to copy from them, run sdelete to clean them, or to do a periodic backup to them, this adapter set works perfectly.

For some reason when my full size mechanical hdd wan connected to this it got really really hot and for a while the drive didn’t work. I also had some issue with IDE drives. Hard to tell what device was at fault though. Works fine for laptop SATA drives.

This was a good value. It was easy to use, it’s sleek and sturdy. It transfers data quickly and comes with all needed cables. I had 3 different hard drives and the accommodated each.

Much more convenient than a drive enclosure, if you just want to pull things off old hard drives (instead of build a permanent external drive).

I had several computers that I needed to download family photos from. Took the drives out, connected to my new computer and the adapter worked as expected. The delivery time is crazy fast with Prime.

The unit works when you can get power to the IDE drive. The DC power adapter cable to pwr ide devices is to short for half my drives. Depending on the orientation of the drives connectors the cable is way too short. I can't believe they would skimp out and provide a cable 4 inches to short. Frustrating... what's a few more inchs saving you in cost? I'd happily pay an extra $0.50 (fifty cents) for a power adapter cable that works.

I bought this product to recover data from the hard drive of a 20 year old laptop. This product worked flawlessly and is wonderful for backing up older hard drives.
