Functional Medieval Flared Barbute Fighting Combat Helmet 16G Steel SCA

Well, it arrived absolutely soaked in oil, with some added dirt. Presumably to stop rust, but rust is still present in areas inside and outside the helmet (Nothing major, probably from storage). It's 16 gauge steel rather than 18, but it's still full steel. The shape of it is pretty solid, the design and construction is too. However, the leather inside where your head is supposed to sit, seems to be glued in with PVA kids glue as it practically falls out with any force. I think it will require pulling out completely and sticking down with epoxy or gorilla glue.It was surprisingly dirty, and stank of oil (Obviously). It took about an hour of soaking down with degreaser and cleaner, and rubbing down with a cloth, as well as some wipes to clean the leather. So yeah, came in a pretty crappy condition and will take some self-fixing. If you don't have an abnormally large head you'll need some foam padding to put on the inside so it fits too, which I will be doing once i've fixed the crappy leather strapping.All in all, the metal work is fine, in fact it's very good bar the small rust patches. Everything else though... was bad. Although for £40 I'm not surprised, and can say it's probably considered a pretty good deal if you don't mind spending some time on it youself. Better than coping £120 for one very similar on another website. It might come in better condition, but this is definitely the better offer.

Looks fantastic. It could do with some alterations to the inside to make it more comfortable but overall very happy with the purchase.
