Not Howie's Best Work
What this book offers is lots of gory black & white pictures you might not see elsewhere. Howie has good sources. However, on several of his books, including this one, there really is no narrative -- just mug shots and rap sheets of the particular thugs involved. For the pictures, this is a fair companion to one of his well-narrated books like The Brothers Bulger. Or T.J. English's Where the Bodies Were Buried. But I found it not really worth the money (and I bought it in one of Howie's package deals.)

Not all were ugly nor pugly!
I enjoyed finally seeing the faces associated with the crime(s) they committed throughout the years; Mr. Carr again proved he is most knowledgeable of the Boston crime figures and can put their words /deeds to print and make them almost likeable. Thanks. Joe Murphy

Great Title
This is the first book of Howie Carr's that I haven't reread 5 x's I don't think it is his best. Still interesting and informative. Howie has his hand on the pulse. No matter how many enemies he makes.

Meh..kind of OK.
Ok, so I've been a loyal listener to Howie for 20 years, read and enjoyed his other books. While the book is interesting, it's put together like a scrapbook of newspaper clippings that are in no particular order. Howie probably knows more about organized crime in New England that anyone, but this feels like it was thrown together in a weekend, so only three stars.

very good. Writing style is somewhat weak and scattered
I have an interest in the subject matter, in that sense, very good. Writing style is somewhat weak and scattered. Filled with pictures to compensate for the lack of substance. Quick shipping

A disappointment
I've read most of Carr's other books, and was satisfied. The fact is, that perhaps even more so for the Kindle, more than half of the book was nothing but pictures. The book itself was alright, but I frankly felt a little ripped off in the end.
