Test answers?
So far my 8th grader enjoys this curriculum. There are answers in the back of the book for uneven number of the practices. But where do one get the solutions/answers to the test problems?

Excellent
I've used Foerster's Alg2 and Trig book and loved it, so I decided to order the Alg1 book as well. It's very important that math textbook exercises not turn off students with unnecessarily frustrating, tedious problems or senseless, "busywork"-type of problems. I can trust that the problems in the Foerster books that I assign to students will help build their understanding of mathematical concepts and develop their skills in problem solving. A math book should inspire students as they see the beauty in the relationships between numbers and the applications of mathematics to other areas of study.

A Good Solid Algebra Program
We used this for homeschool because we could also get the companion jump drive from Math Without Borders to go along with it. As others have noted, it is a more advanced algebra program. Some of the word problems are pretty tough. But if you child doesn't struggle in math and is planning to continue with higher math classes this is a very strong foundation.

Excellent algebra text - Vastly better than Common Core
I like this book so much that I've already bought the next one in the series. Sometimes the old is better than the new, and that's certainly the case with this approach to teaching algebra versus that garbage they call Common Core. I recommend this for anyone who wants to learn algebra or for anyone who wants to teach algebra to someone who has been failed by the current fads in education.

Beautifully sequenced
Mr Foerster has written a beautiful algebra book, if such a thing is possible. I am particularly impressed with the clarity of his presentation of the quadratic formula, something that is often just presented as something that students must memorize. But by the time you've worked through the chapters leading up to it, you understand the quadratic formula and why it works. This is just one example of many topics that are presented in an extremely clear and interesting way in this book.

I bought this Algebra 1 book for my teenage son ...
I bought this Algebra 1 book for my teenage son. It is very student friendly with examples that are understandable. I also found a Home Study Companion CD that you can buy separate at "Math Without Borders" website that goes along with this book. Kind of pricey at about $70 but well worth the money. It is very helpful and has an instructor that goes over each concept and explains the "why, and How", that most some students find puzzling

poor printing
I received one book and exchanged because the printing quality was poor. For example, most pages were darker print (almost blurry) than usual. This made it hard to distinguish boldface words (vocabulary) from regular text. I exchanged my book, thinking I got a bad copy, but the replacement was the same, plus a bonus tear on the edge of the book binding. I returned and just ordered an old used copy. The content is the same as far as I can tell. (Side note, I saw another student's textbook like this one, and the print looked the same as the ones I received. So that's 3 books I've seen that looked this way. My older copies/editions of the book are not like this.)I also contacted the publisher, Pearson, and asked them if this is how their books look, and they said no. I sent them pictures, so I don't know if Amazon is selling copies the publisher rejected or what.Regarding the content, I think it's presented in a clear, understandable way.
