Five stars if a couple of small but useful changes are possible
I'd actually like to give it 4.5 stars, maybe even 4.75, but I don't have that option. It's actually pretty much like the good reviews say it is, and that's no longer a guarantee of anything on Amazon, now that you can pay people to generate 100 5* reviews for you. Hint: the review-generators haven't realized yet that using the same date(s) for all of them is a tip-off, so if you see a 5* review where all of the reviews were posted Nov 24 and Nov 25, dollars to donuts it's fake.Okay, the cold pack:Arrived early this AM, and by the time I opened the package it had been out in 27-degree cold for a few hours -- not freezer-level cold, but it was chilly, so I decided to give it a try.First change: if I hadn't remembered one of the images on the product page, I'd have had no clue how to put it on my shoulder; needs a manual, or at least a sheet, with illustrations of various uses. The straps are long and broad, and while they stretch just enough they're not too loose to be useful, and I expect them to last.Second change: be the first vendor to put a tab without velcro on it at the end of the strap, so you don't have to look for the black piece with velcro hooks (on the black strap), then pry it up; a nice red cloth tab about 1" x (the width of the strap) would be excellent.Put it on. The strap that goes around the chest was easy to set up and attach, but the one that goes around the arm not so much.Third change: include, or at least make available, a shorter strap for things like arms and legs; the full-length strap is just too unwieldy. Don't REPLACE the second long strap, because for an application like the back you need the length -- but maybe including one long strap and two short ones that can be attached to each other and be the same length as the long one?Okay, it's on my shoulder. Aside from the fact that a shorter strap would probably make the fit on my are a bit better, it's staying in place, in contact with all of my shoulder and upper arm, and I can actually get up and walk around rather than having to sit in a recliner leaning to one side, with one arm raised, so the cold pack doesn't slip off. It's surprisingly cold for not having been frozen, and it seems to stay cold for a long time. After the prescribed time, I take it off, remove the straps, and put it in the freezer. Since it's made of six panels, two rows of 3, that are semi-rigid, I can fold it in thirds so it takes up little space in the freezer *and* stays flat it's easy to stack on other stuff. [I don't put the straps in because (a) they're easily removable and (b) I figure that repeated freezing and unfreezing can't be great for the elastic.]BTW, I didn't bother using the sleeve, just put it over a t-shirt, and it was fine; the test will be after it's been in the freezer.Okay, off to PT. When I return, I get the pack out of the freezer; it's cold, but another couple of hours would have been nice. Still, it was comfortable without the sleeve, and because I'm used to ice packs from PT I don't really need the sleeve (but it shouldn't be put on bare skin, as noted right on the side of the pack that has some basic instructions (but not illustrations of how to attach it to places like shoulders and hips))The fact that it's got six panels, separated by what appear to be well-sealed partitions, means that I don't have to spend the first couple of minutes squeezing the frozen gel from the side where it all accumulated while it was soft, trying to make it a uniform thickness.I have a collection of cold packs, some of which date from before the turn of the millennium (I love saying that), and so far this one beats the others in most respects -- and there's no other one that has as many pluses as this one does. All in all, I'd buy it again -- but if the minor issues I mentioned were addressed, I'd up my rating to 5 stars (or more, if I could; maybe Amazon should move to a 10-point rating scale that actually goes to 11). If the vendor is reading this, I'd pay a bit more for the improvements I suggested, and I'd even be willing to buy a short strap separately if one were available.P.S.1. It's got a lifetime warranty, and at least for now when you register you'll get a free cold pack for writing an Amazon review; I'd already written 90% of this one before I found this out, so it was a nice surprise extra.2. I did look at the instructions on the website, and there are none to show how to put this on the shoulder, just the basic setup -- putting in sleeve, attaching straps.3. The illustration of the head wrap is pretty funny. Maybe you should make one with holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth. :-)

The straps are the best part so it doesn’t fall off. I plan on buying a second one before surgery.
This has been a life saver. And thank goodness for 2 day prime shipping! There is absolutely no way I could’ve gone to a store to buy this. Continue reading, and you’ll know why.I have another herniated disc in my Lower back, and I’ve been having a horrible painful flare up the last month and it’s still pretty bad. This helps relieve and numb some of the pain. The size of this is perfect. I have extruating pain in my lower Back, butt, all the way down the back of my thigh to my knee. I can easily strap this on so I can get up time to time without taking it off or having to hold it in place. It stays on really well. As soon as I put any pressure, the pain is insanely painful. So this definitely helps! I may buy a second one before I have back surgery again. I know my back will be on fire and I’ll want to have quite a few of these on hand, ready to go so I can have it on constantly. I know this one will be my “go to”.I needed an ice pack that was thick, heavy and one that stays cold longer then 20 mins. This stays freezing cold for at least an hour but stays colder for about 2 hours, maybe longer. It’s comfortable to use. It’s soft and not hard. You can also lay or sit on it or lay it on top of you and you don’t have to worry about popping it or ruining it.Seems to be very sturdy and made well.I’ve only been using this for about a week so it’s an early review. But bc I’m so happy with it I figured I’d write it now. Plus I’m debilitated bc I’m in so much pain, I’m very bored lol.

Affordable hot/cold therapy - Doesn't disappoint
I ordered this after having purchased the Thermopeutic head wrap for migraines and loving how long the cold stayed cold. I thought I'd give this a try since it covers larger area. I have used it on my back both hot and cold and again is great. Definitely forms to body due to the gel inside - much better and last longer than bagged ice or peas. It comes with two loose straps that you can use to attach as needed. My son used tonight on shoulder and arm soreness from pitching baseball. Lays down flat and could be used as heating pad lower back. I like better than heating pad because no cords, also better than heated water bottle because forms to body. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for affordable and easy to use hot/cold therapy.

Excellent for post surgery recovery
My wife have a hip surgery, doctor recommends to apply the ice pack to help the swollen. She used on hip, thigh and knee. This product works very well. After freezing it is still very soft, temperature not icy cold. The fabric is very soft and comfortable, you can apply directly to the skin. We have tried other products, after freezing they become very hard and icy cold, we need to wrap it with tower before applying to skin. The strap really helps to secure it in place. After using this product we like it so much, we bought one more as a gift to our friend she has a back pain, she loves it!!!
