Suzuki Viola School, Vol 1: Viola Part, Book & CD

The books is great. I thought it came with the CD. It came with no CD and an empty Reece's wrapper. Just be careful buying used books, I guess...

This is the first in the Suzuki series for Viola. Recommend. It covers proper bowing technique and finger placement as well as the beginner songs that the student will return to again and again. Get the book with CD. Listening is a large part of learning to play properly.

I started out with Suzuki when I was learning to play the violin in high school. I already knew how to read music, so I refused to learn to play by ear, which gave my teacher a little bit of grief. Still, the method is well-proven to produce great musicians as long as they put as much time and effort into learning to read music as they put into playing by ear. The songs are fun to play and quickly move the violist past the boring, one-note melodies. I only give the review four stars, however, because I had to buy a CD player for the CD that accompanies the book. The songs on CD are excellent for ear training and enhance practice a great deal, but who listens to anything on CD anymore. Would be better to offer MP3 downloads and much more convenient.

Great just like the rest of the Suzuki books.

The book arrived totally bent out of shape so it is impossible to keep it open now or read the music. It can't stay on the music stand. What a joke.

Suzuki method is amazing! Find a qualified teacher and prepare to be amazed at what your child can do!

El producto venía sin precintar y en no muy buen estado.Además tomando como indicativo el precio que figura en la contraportada del producto éste no debería exceder los 15 euros; que para un cuadernillo de apenas 30 hojas ya es bastante.
