I did try sketching on the glass but it felt unpleasant and I worried about scratches. I looked around at various protectors and whilst the paperlike seemed like a good option I was put off by the price and possibility of it bending in the mail which had happened to some other people. The elecom was lacking in reviews or videos but I decided to take a chance on it as the price was reasonable and I’ll admit being a Japanese product that’s targeted towards artists appealed more to me than other brand matte protectors that are mostly just there to prevent glare.I’ve had this for a few months now and I can’t imagine using my iPad without it or using another protector the elecom feels great to draw or write on. Some people have said the screen protector is like sandpaper but I think that’s a bit of an over exaggeration, there is more tooth than other protectors but not enough to make it uncomfortable it will however wear your pencil nib down faster. As a Wacom cintiq user I feel comfortable using the protector (obviously cintiq doesn’t have the same tooth but it feels kind of similar to use) and don’t really notice a big difference in brightness and clarity drop due to being used to a cintiq screen. If you use your iPad for art I would definitely recommend this protector.The worst thing about the protector is putting it on even now there are some minor dust specks but putting the protector on was such an ordeal of multiple attempts that I just left it as is despite the specks which aren’t all that noticeable unless you’re working on a bright white screen but I always start on a light grey canvas to prevent eye strain in all of my digital art. The protector comes with a tiny cloth that’s too small to really use effectively, a piece of card to squeeze the bubbles out and a small sticky label to remove dust from your screen. I’m lucky that I had a roll of address sticker labels because one sticker wasn’t enough and honestly it’s better to just leave the tablet over night as the bubbles had disappeared the next day (they were small though if you have large bubbles probably try to squeeze them out). The card isn’t advisable to use too much because the texture of the screen started to tear the card and leave paper residue. For the price I would have preferred they give us 2 protectors but at least thanks to the silicone it was easy to remove and reapply multiple times, if it had been an adhesive film I’d have ruined the protector in the process of trying to reapply it. Another thing is that the screen protector isn’t blue like somebody else commented on, it’s just the film that you’ll remove anyway that’s blue.I know a chunk of this review is the installation but it really was a pain so good luck applying it. All in all it provides a great surface for using the Apple Pencil, which now feels more like an actual pencil on paper. It was very easy to install with a fair bit of leeway, so it's not too hard to get right. The only downside to this protector (as with all matte protectors) is the minimal rainbow effect visible when viewing white backgrounds.
