All 6 of my kids dig it!
I purchased this book after seeing it mentioned on Twitter, and was so anxious to have it that I rushed shipping to get it next day for my 6 children. We live in a semi-rural area of Virginia, and there aren't a lot of families that understand and/or support marriage equality. It's disheartening, but all I have complete control over is ensuring that my young children understand and support the LGBTQ community. That being said, my kids range from 3 year old twins to 12 years old. The older 3 are at a stage where I can discuss social issues such as marriage equality and they understand. The younger 3 aren't there yet. That is where this book nails it. It's humorous, it's fun, it shows the involvement this boy has with planning the wedding, and the illustrations are colorful and relatable. I didn't know if my older kids would want to read it because it is directed toward the younger crowd, but to my delight, even my 12 year old, One Direction-obsessed daughter took it to her room and read it before bed one night.Perhaps the greatest part of this story is that the plot, in no way, addresses the apprehension of acceptance by opponents in the pursuit of marriage equality. It simply, and beautifully, tells a story about a wedding, which allows children to ask questions and opens a discussion for the parents to educate their young ones on extending basic civil rights to LGBTQ citizens in a way that works for a family individually. There is no wiggle room for anyone to say that this book is pushing a "gay agenda" on young, impressionable minds.Mr. Rosswood, you sir, knocked it out of the park. Thank you for your contribution to our household library!

Lighthearted Tale of a Modern Wedding
What questions will kids ask when their uncle wants to marry another man? As shown in My Uncle's Wedding, children want to know: "Can I have chicken nuggets?" and "Can I help pick out the cake?"Author Eric Ross's and illustrator Tracy Greene's book "My Uncle's Wedding" reveals the normalcy and simplicity behind the weddings of same gender couples. The story is told from the perspective of the ringbearer/narrator, who excitedly helps plan for his uncle's wedding day. The young narrator leads us from the engagement through the planning and reception. The language and illustrations are clear, kid-friendly, and age appropriate. As an uncle, my nephew was too young to remember serving as the ringbearer in my wedding, so I bought this for him.As a gay dad, I think this book celebrates the normalcy of our everyday lives, in the spirit of "Daddy, Papa, and Me."

Wonderfully done!
Having young children, working in childcare and having many lgb friends and family members, I felt it was important to have a way to explain marriage and love to children in terms of same sex relationships. This book simplified and helped explain it in such a beautiful way. I read it to my son, and though he is only one now, I look forward to reading it to him again when he is a bit older. Eric did a wonderful job expressing the beauty of marriage and love from a child's point of view. No political or religious propaganda, it's just like any other children's book that discusses an issue children need to learn about, such as sharing or friendship. The art is beautiful, the story is lovely and genuine. 5 of 5, it made me smile.

Sweet book for kids! Grownups will like it, too!
My Uncle's Wedding is a beautifully-written, wonderfully-illustrated book about a commonplace occurrence - a wedding - something that all families experience and enjoy. The planning of the wedding and the wedding celebration are seen through the eyes of Andy, the nephew of one of the men getting married. Andy was included in the planning of the wedding and it's fun to see his reactions to picking out flowers, tasting different kinds of cakes, buying a suit - and even bird poop! It's a book that all families will enjoy. It is also a book that shows how natural it is for two people who love each other to want to get married and spend their lives together. Bravo to Eric Ross (the author) and Tracy K Greene (the illustrator)!

A must read as it opens hearts and minds.
I just read the book and I have to say as a gay man I found it so refreshing and actually quite healing. I wish I'd had a book like that when I was younger. The style in which it is written is educative and yet so very natural. When I was a kid I used to play "house" with 2 other friends. I always played the wife. It was so natural for us, until I was shamed by a parent who made fun of the fact that I was playing the woman. Kids hearts know that anything is possible, and know what intuitively feels right and that is why I loved this book. A must read as it opens hearts and minds and is a beautiful celebration of true love.

Wonderful book for kids of all ages
Eric Ross does a wonderful job in his book "My Uncle's Wedding" at showing there is absolutly no difference between a wedding for a same-sex couple and a wedding for a heterosexual couple. The focus is on the nephew and all he is going through in helping them plan the wedding and in being a part of the wedding. The exact same book could be written about a heterosexual couple getting married from the perspective of their nephew. No politics, no emphasis on what is common vs what is different about this wedding or this couple just a simple story about a beautiful wedding. I plan to buy a copy for all my friends with kids (and perhaps even a few without).

My Family Loves "My Uncle's Wedding" by Eric Ross
My family lives in a very conservative area, and I want to teach my children that love is the same for everyone. This book accomplishes that and more! The writing is so sweet, and is told from the view of a very excited, much-loved nephew who is given the honor of participating in the planning of his uncle's wedding. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and the story is so charming. After reading this to my girls, their only comments were about wedding details and birthday presents. The message is presented in such a respectful & loving way, even small children will grasp that all love is to be cherished and celebrated.

A fun book about a gay wedding
I loved the story and the bright pictures. My friend's grandson was a page boy at a wedding when two of his Mum's (female) friends got married. He is 7 and didn't even think twice about two people of the same sex getting married as 'They love each other'.This book has the same message.I believe that children are taught to reject others and not to respect those who are different from themselves: reading a book like this to children means that the world could be a much better place that is full of respect for others.

' I think two uncles are better than one'
' I think two uncles are better than one'Thank you Eric. A lovely book which is just right for introducing the concept of same sex weddings to young children. It presents this wedding rightly as a celebratory part of everyday life and a fun event. I as the reader would have loved to attend and sample all that cake! The illustrations by Tracy K Green are perfect. Each one made me smile. Well done!

Perfect book for us gay parents (and it should be mandatory for everyone elseβ¦)
I love this book. I bought it for my son who had his first birthday on Friday. Let me say that he's a bit too young to grasp it, but I'm sure, a year from now we'll be reading this together. It's a great way to introduce the concept of marriage, weddings and celebrations into a child's life while at the same time teaching them that love has no gender.Love it. It's funny, great pictures and illustrations!

Best of the best
Incredibly well written matter-of-fact story of a gay wedding. This book and others like it are a wonderful addition to the world of kids books, enabling parents to address social topics at a young age and defeat stereotypes and in this case homophobia, before they start.the main character goes about the fun task of helping plan a wedding with full understanding that people who love each other very much...get married. This one is my favorite of the genre.
