These were soft and my son didn't seem to mind that they were in his shoes at all. My son is 3 and has pretty severe flat feet so as a daily fix I don't think these are enough. I have other orthotics as well but I wanted to put these in a pair of shoes he doesn't wear that often to add a little more support. They are sticky on one side so I actually stuck them to a pair of removable soles. Now I can put those soles in whatever shoes I want to. They add just a little more comfy support and were worth the few bucks they cost. I might want a set for me ;)
