Works great. This only catches the tailgate about halfway down, and then gives it a soft opening. It doesn't do anything on the way up. Only thing missing is some lock-tite. This is a nice feature to keep the gate from dropping on stuff.

mine arrived in an obviously preopened box which also contained a previously-opened inner envelope of small parts.The rub strip described in the instructions was missing, as was the tube of threadlock .The other items are of good quality, but the buyer should know that this apparatus only dampens the gate's fall, it does not make it any easier to lift back up to close it.

This will not let the tailgate drop and slam down and possibly injure someone or damage the truck if it get away from you. Takes about 10 minutes to easily install.

The media could not be loaded.  Just installed this the other day on my 2013 gmc 2500hd, works awesome for the price! No more slamming tailgate if you only have one hand available! Hope the shock holds up long term!

Trash no instructions givin what's so ever self explanatory givin you seen a deezee brand video installed it let the tail gate down and the threaded rivet popped out slamming my tail gate that being said dont buy it spend the extra and get the deezee dont be like my cheap butt and go generic

I'm older and have a tailgate ladder. The piston lets the gate drift down instead of slamming down with extra weight of ladder. Really great if older.

To be honest when I opened the box I didnt think that tiny shock was gonna slow down that heavy tailgate. But once I installed, which only took 10 minutes. I was "shocked", easy install and no more tailgate slamming when my kid opens it to put sports and band equipment after practice.
