Video looked like you were looking through fishbowl
Had several issues with the two white POE SCNC2900WP models we received and returned. Both of them had a small white area in upper left hand corner of the picture, video looked like you were looking through a fishbowl, and would stay in night mode most of the time. Had to turn most of the lights on with the blinds opened on a sunny afternoon, before it kicked out of IR (night) mode. Did not have this issue with their black SCNS2900P model. You can create multiple remote users on this camera, but all users have the same access. For example if you wanted the admin to be able to be able to hear if the security alarm was triggered, but not allow guest users to listen to user conversations it is not really possible. Would NOT recommend this camera if you have the need or desire to share access to the camera with someone else. At least from my experience most would like to have full access as an admin, but restrict access given to guest users. The built in motion detection does not work very well. (Especially for outdoor videos) While the settings can be adjusted... it either catches too much or not enough. I adjusted the sensors down one notch and the next day all I got was a full day of the trees moving back and forth. We have deer walking through our backyard and the built in motion detector completely misses it.Pulling the video from the storage card remotely could be a lot easier. Ideally you would be able to SMB or FTP into the camera and select multiple captures to play or download. It appears that presently this can only be completed one file at a time. The camera bracket is very hard to adjust and needs to be redesigned. It is hard to get the camera to stay pointed in the direction you want it to go.The directions could be much better. I will say their e-mail support is impressive and from what I can tell they will bend over backwards to assist you. However, sometimes you just want to look up the answers yourself and not wait a few hours for someone to get back to you.The built in software is severely lacking, but if you are using a third party software package such as BlueIris you can overlook some of its short comings. They are very close to having one of the best cameras out there. With a few software tweaks I would easily change my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars, but for now most of the cheaper cameras half the price have more software features that work better. If I was to rate video quality alone I would give them a 4 or 5 star rating. (Minus the two defective cameras that we returned)

Best Cams, Best Support, No Subscription
I am a returning customer as I am replace my 4 cameras from Sharx (both wired and wireless - all still working) with their latest once for better picture quality..I did a diligent market research this time again to see where technology is and what the prices are but the market gave me all the good reason to return to Sharx.1. The cameras easily can compete with all other brands out their both in price and technology. If you find cheaper cameras, it is because their have less features and lag quality.2. Setup is easy! But as you learn more about the technology (configure motion detection, video stream quality, central storage via true NAS,etc.), you will be surprised how much you can do with these cameras.3. No subscription. Do let other vendors reach in your wallet every month for services you can have with these cams for free. Access from anywhere, on any platform. Store videos on the cams or on your local network storage at home but don't throw you money at the "all mighty cloud"4. Best of ALL: Customer support. When I got my first cams I decide for Sharx because of customer support getting great reviews. It was very true then and is still true TODAY. I made a mistake and re-use the old power supplies with the new cams which cause the night vision to not work. I found the old email address [email protected] and 2hours later my problem was solved. The same great support when I got started 5 years ago and had the typical beginner questions.

Wow - DVR, web server, and streaming video in this tiny IP camera
I found this when looking up DIY weatherproof web cams. So this isn't exactly a USB web cam - its an IP camera - and it isnt exactly weatherproof. But by using an IP camera that supports POE, I don't have to worry about extending USB. And unlike most other IP cameras, no cloud account or subscription is required - the camera itself is a digital DVR, storing pictures and/or video on a micro SD card. And that's not all - this camera has a built in web server that lets you view live streams on PCs, MACs, and most phones. Plus it can take pictures periodically and store them locally, then (if you want) it can email them to you, or FTP them... plus it supports motion detection recording if desired. There are many other features on this camera, which I recommend checking out. Really, this is probably better suited for a baby cam or surveillance camera. For a bit more money you can also get wireless options and actual weatherproofBack to the original purpose - I was looking for a weatherproof camera, and while this might be weather resistant, it is not weatherproof - a problem I solved by buying a $14 weatherproof work light at Lowes - i just disassembled the electrical, bulb, and reflector and had an instant weatherproof housing with a perfect Cat 6-sized entry hole.

Great resolution and easy to use
I installed this in a retail store and set it to record on motion detection. It's easy to access with the web browser interface and the recorded files are satisfyingly sharp. I plan to get the weatherproof version for a better angle, but with this one looking out the window I am certain I could resolve license plates of any vehicles within about 50-60 feet (but let's hope I never have to).The recorded files are easy to access and just glancing at the time-stamped file names, it's obvious if there was activity over night. The IR lights really brighten the night-time recording. The little IR emitters look a dim red in real life when turned on, which kind of makes the device look evil.I use this one with a Netgear POE switch GS108PE so I could just run a single cat6 ethernet cable to the camera... works flawlessly.Great product, I plan to buy another soon.
