Not sure about this device totally at this point. It does seem to work on the things it says but I am yet to officially test it against actual spy gear. It can detect magnets and it can detect small camera lenses so that is good. I will have to bring it with me when I go to a hotel next. So far I just tested it at my home and at work so it has been limited. It does feel cheaply made but then again the price is pretty cheap as well. This feels more like a gimmick type thing than a real spy gear detector. But for about 8 bucks you really can't go wrong and it is worth having in a spy detector kit.

I thought this would be a cool device for just checking public places for cameras. I'm not paranoid and I don't really expect to find anything but it never hurts especially since we stay in air b-n-b's and I have seen many reports of people having hidden cameras. That said I decided to test it out using a Wi-Fi camera that I have in a bedroom. As I approached the camera the sensor started indicating that it detected a Wi-Fi signal as I got closer maybe about four or five feet away it sounded an alert. So based on this evidence I would say that it works for Wi-Fi services. For the next test I decided to see if it would locate an Apple air tag. I have a few air tags that we usually use in luggage. I put one in my son's backpack and verified that it was tracking well while he was at school and on the way home. It was definitely sending message because I was able to track him while he was on the bus. When he got home I turn the detector device on and entered the room with an air tag in it. I didn't get any indications that the air tag was being detected. I then walked right over to where the air tag was and again didn't get any indication that it was detecting it. I'm not sure how air tags work so I moved an Apple phone closer to it to see if the Apple phone triggered your tag and it would detect that but I didn't see any indications then either. I checked in all three of the modes. I know that this device talks about detecting other things like microphones but I don't really have anything like that to test it with. My entire experience was with a 2.4 GHz wireless camera and then air tag and it detected the camera quite well.

I didn't expect much from a $10 product but that's my ignorance of how far technology has come. This device is capable of detecting cameras and other signals. I tested it on a gopro and it detected it hidden in my closet. I also tested my ring camera and it also was able to detect it. I do recommend if you use this tool to put your phone away somewhere away from this device as it will detect false positives from your phone. As a plus it can help you find your phone too! It's very easy to use you only have 4 modes so you can toggle between them to find what you're looking for.
