However, it did come with batteries (non re-chargeable). Yes. The controllers are black.We have a 15 year old and an 11 year old and they are both happy with everything about the system - EXCEPT that you have to have a membership to access most anything. What do I do??** A: You have to hold the sync button on the controllers until the lights on the power buttons start spinning, then press the sync button on the Xbox 360 console (next to the front USB ports for me) **Q: I have the PC receiver, will this controller work with the PC receiver? There are a few choices to purchase from on this page and apparently people are getting confused as to what they are expecting and actually purchasing.Stars category...Really? Not what I expected to be asked. But OKAY. Its a 5 star either way. I wish I had another controller set to compare this to but I don't. I am new to the Xbox stuff.The button you use to turn it on in the middle of the controller (at the top) lights up. That is cool looking. The light will blink continuously to let you know that it is working to set up to the console. This will stop blinking once it has connected. The light will blink if you get out of range or if it cannot make contact with the box. It also will start blinking if the controller starts to loose its juice and needs new batteries.There are four lights in the power button and once you turn on 2 controllers at the same time only one light will be left on for first player and the opposite light (right side) will be left on for the second player. *I may have the left and right side players in reverse* But you get the idea.Battery compartment is on the back of the controller. You just hold a small slick button and pull and the back will come off and voila- put batteries in or take out and snap back to controller.Battery life- Well like with all other batteries this goes down to how much time you play with the controller and the brand. I just purchase the batteries with that bunny on them and they last awhile. We get about 2 months use with those but we also do not sit for hours on the Xbox either.Controller- Overall I don't really see what else they could add to these to improve them, they cover all your bases to most games unless that game requires a specific controller. These are easy to use and grip. Learning is self explanatory.
