What a Beautiful Book!
I initially purchased this book thinking it was sort of autobiographical, based on a review that I had read containing quotes from Andre Leon Talley. Once I realized that it is just a beautiful book, with beautiful pics of fabulously beautiful black dresses, I was smitten. I love the book, have looked at it many times and found something different each time. My appreciation grew after seeing the installation of ALT's exhibit down at the Savannah College of Art, which recently opened. What a treat!! I bought one for me and one for an ardent ALT devotee. She also loves it.

Not happy, as I did not order this book, unless I did so by accident.
What I did not like, is that I have no knowledge of having ordered this very expensive and useless book on a subject I have no interest in. Obviously there was a mistake and was not given a way of getting a return since it was sold to me by a private dealer through Amazon, or something.

It’s fun to look at the pictures and guess who the ...
Lovely book. As all things put out by Mr. Talley, this book has a distinct point of view and manages to make high fashion less esoteric. Well thought out reflections on the LBD and gorgeous examples from a wide variety of designers. A crash course in design for the novice but also of interest to the seasoned follower of fashion and all things Andre Leon Talley. It’s fun to look at the pictures and guess who the designer is and then look up the name in the margin of the page.

fabulous!
Love this book. I was not able to see the exhibit, so I'm thrilled with a catalog. I'm from the "little black dress" generation and still remember my first one. I grew up in the South, where women wore black only to funerals, so having that dress was a sign of becoming an adult. I should add that my first black dress was a short and sleek cocktail dress acquired for a trip to New York.

Gorgeous book for fashionistas
My husband and I saw the exhibition in Paris, curated by Andre Leon Talley. Lovely book and treasure to keep. We bought a poster at the exhibit, so a great addition to our Paris Wall!

A very interesting book, it's now part of a small library of fashion and photography books we've started in our studio.

all informaition of the expo
Even I was able to take photos at the expo, I could find nice photos on this book and it was useful to search more details. I wanted to have more historical reading which wasn't shown in the expo then it would be 5 stars.

wunderschöner Ausstellungskatalog
Für Liebhaber des LBD ein Muss, schön aufgemacht, interessante und nicht zu langatmige Texte; holt man immer mal wieder hervor und blättert; gibt Anregungen für die eigene Kreativität.

A book for inspiration
I bought the book for inspiration for dressmaking and it fits the brief exactly. Very clear, large pictures which are not interrupted by useless words, these are kept to the back of the book and give a background to the provenance of each dress. Excellent
