Difficult! Keeps disconnecting
This OBD2 interface works with difficulty. It is for Apple products iOS so connects via WiFi, not sure if that has anything to do with it. (Others for Android and PC connect via Bluetooth.) Tried connecting 30 times with engine on, engine off, nothing. Finally tried connecting with key on (instrument panel lights on) but engine off, that worked, connected, then I started car for data. But then the unit constantly disconnected, usually after about a minute. Then I need to shut off car, turn key to on, reconnect, then restart car. Lots of wear on the starter, but more importantly, very difficult to diagnose car problem when won't stay connected while I am troubleshooting. No printed instruction manual. I got lucky and found the car problem (due to a good website that said where to look), repaired, cleared the fault codes. Software I used is DashCommand on both an iPhone and iPad, I don't think the software or devices are at fault. Software that is supposed to be included wouldn't download, and won't do what you need. To access real-time data, you need a paid program, DashCommand was $10. So you play with settings by trial-and-error until something works so you can connect. If your time is valuable, do not buy. I kept it because it worked just well enough to find the problem, fix it, and clear the fault code, and it's cheap. If it cost more, I would have returned it.

Very simple and handy!
This obd scanner is great! I have used it on a few cars already and it works perfectly. I have used it to check the engine codes and find out why my check engine light is on. I have also used it in my other car to get some real time driving stats. It can report your speed, gas mileage, and all sorts of other driving diagnostics in real time. Very handy little tool to have and a great little gift to give to any car enthusiast. Whether it is for checking the check engine light codes only, or for all the diagnostics put out by the computer in the car, I recommend this. It is definitely a great little gadget to have and the price is definitely worth it. I have seen these go for a lot more money and do the same exact thing. I have also had to drive all the way to the local auto parts store to have my codes read for me. Some of the auto parts stores even charge you to read the check engine codes. Don't waste money having someone else read your codes when you can buy this and check them yourself! You have a choice of different apps that you can download to use with this code reader. I have only tried one of the apps so far, as it seemed to do what I needed it to do. However, there are a couple out there that I saw. I think there are some that are just readers for check engine light, and then there are others that offer more in depth information and advanced options. Either way, I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Crazy cheap and does the job but you get what you pay for
This is definitely not the easiest to use. They give you a link 2 download about five different apps that will work with this. They each do different things and work with different devices. The app cannot be downloaded Android or Apple stores. Passing a ball with your phone to accept third-party apps and then download it it's kind of made me nervous that I was downloading virus or Chinese spying app. At the end of day it did work and I got the list of issues I was trying to find from my car computer

This is an amazing device!
This is a great OBD device.Very easy to use after you install the app on your phone.Very accurate results you will get when you diagnosis your car.The thing that I love it in this device is working wirelessly you don't need any cable to connect , you just connect it with your phone directly. That is it.Very high quality and powerful.I highly recommend!

Second try with a replacement sent the first one back
This is the second one they sent me and I can’t get it to connect to the ECM or vehicle. Connects to the phone fine but cycles through all the protocols in the app and still won’t connect. It’s a Chevy so this replacement is probably defective also. I’m going to try it again one more time on another phone and I’m sending this one back and want a refund. So far, my opinion, it’s a junk product.

worked as advertised
works as advertised with my iPhone on my civic and mazda - did not try it on my TDI beetle, V8 tundra, plug-in kia, or V6 passat. However, i will say I prefer bluetooth OBD2 adapters paired with an android phone with the torque app. Worked with a Y splitter alongside my liberty mutual right track.

Couldn't get it to connect.
I tried 2 different apps on my IPhone, neither was able to connect using this device. I returned it to Amazon. Purchased a different brand device and my IPhone connected with good reliability.

This is really cool and easy to use.
I bought this so I could reset the check engine light, but it does so much more. Using the cell phone app it shows all kinds of info about how your car is running. It was also very easy to use.
