Purchased this for my Cold Steel Trail Boss axe hoping that it would actually fit. I can confirm that it requires some effort the first time you try to stretch the strap around the axe head and get it to snap in place. After letting the leather stretch out for a couple of weeks it now fits snuggly but is easy to close. This axe cover is very well made and the leather is thick and firm.

Very well made product and it fits my hatchet perfectly! I was worried it wouldn't fit based on a few other reviews. The top and bottom rivets are about 4 & 3/4 inches apart and my hatchet blade is 4.5 inches top to bottom. What made the strap fit is that the back of my hatchet head is 1 & 3/4 inches at the most narrow part and 2 inches at the back hammer area. I highly recommend this product if it will fit your hatchet!

Absolutely excellent quality and value. Does not fit my hatchet even though from the dimensions shown online indicated otherwise. Great product though we need a better way to determine fit.

I ordered the sheath for a 2 1/4 lb boys axe. When I first tried it, the strap was too short, by quite a bit, maybe 2”? I had measured my axe and it should have fit, from the dimensions given in the pictures. I almost returned it. I decided to see if I could stretch it to fit, otherwise I would have made an extension for it. I soaked the sheath in warm water, and molded it to fit over the top of the axe with my hands, and pulled and stretched the strap until it snapped easily, then let it dry on the axe. I then oiled it with a bees wax oil treatment. It fits just fine now. I would give it five stars if it had a welt, but it seems durable enough and fits well after I took the time to mold it to my axe head. It’s a nice product, and I am sure it will last me as long as I need it to.

Love it, just as it should be except the strap was tight. No deal killer just wet it a bit and stretch it around the handle. I will be buying more from h&d in the future.
