The charger does everything it says it can do.
There's little I can criticise. Maybe would have liked a brighter display. Instructions could have been a little more clear. All in all a very clever bit of kit, which does everything I would expect it to do.

Nicely made, easy to fit.
This was a simple nut and bolt fixing. Once fitted its probably less likely to be stolen than other types.

Good but quite big
Well made and seems robust. Needs 30mm clear under carrier platform to mount bolt center. Tight fit on my carrier so lifting off the lens to replace batteries needs some "persuasion". Bright enough and complies with German standard, so legal in UK, which most lights are technically not, as they are not marked with a BS or equivalent European standard.

The light is bright and has good visibility from the sides
The light is bright and has good visibility from the sides. It bolts securely on to rack so no messing about removing it every time you lock your bike up and has an easily accessible on/off button even when wearing gloves.

Wonderful light if you follow some of the steps in my comments - will outlast some bikes !!
I have had this light now for years. I have only found one small problem in all that time. A small amount of water does get in somehow. I’ve tried gasket sealer, silicone grease and somehow water still gets in. Not a lot but more than I’d like. I’ve drilled 2 holes in the extremities of the base of the light so whichever way it’s parked and leaning over, the water has to leave by one of these holes. I have used a 1mm drill and then from the inside I have used a countersink wood drill to make a “indentation” - akin to a cone/funnel to get the water out to the holes and ultimately out of the light body. It’s worked now for many years without a problem. I also spray the electronics with some Duck Oil,(Other water displacement fluids are available but I’ve found Duck Oil doesn’t attack the plastics used in these types of plastic mouldings), when I change the batteries which isn’t very often as they last and last, the electronics and LED mean it uses no battery power at all ! Even on for the daily commute each way in the winter has no affect on the longevity of the batteries. 2 reasonable quality AA batteries should last you up to a year.I also drilled out the original fittings and used some stainless steel fittings which will last forever. I used “Nylock” nuts so it’s going nowhere. I put a thin sheet of synthetic rubber between the rack (carrier) and the light which also helps with vibration damping and allows air circulation and lets it dry out substantially faster.I’m perhaps a little paranoid and over engineered the fitting but it’s never let me down and unlike other lights I don’t have to keep turning round and checking it’s on. Once that button is pressed it’s on and only goes off at the end of my trip and I turn it off myself. 10/10 - I would buy it again but I doubt I will ever need to !

A bit pricy and no batteries included.
To be clear, this is a 80mm light. After reading that this is a smart light as indicated by the name and the "by Smart" on the product page and ordering the Smart Bracket Rear Carrier Mount, LB BH 650 I've come to the conclusion that these products aren't all that smart as they don't fit together, the light/reflector is 80mm whilst the mount is 50mm. It would be great if this would have been mentioned in the description of both products.

Smart by name but not in fact
I wanted a light to attach by bolts to the plate on the rear of my bike's carrier and bought this item after taking too little time to read the details. The required battery size, stated only inside the light fitting is UM - 3X2. It took some experimentation to discover that this equates to 2 AA batteries since they were a very tight fit and didn't seem to fit at all at the first attempt. I didn't mind that the light is powered by dry batteries but this fact as opposed to it being re-chargeable via USB in common with 95% of other bike lights was not stated in the ad.I see now that the ad does say quite clearly that the light has a "steady light function" but for some reason I didn't realise that it wouldn't also have a flashing light facility. In my opinion a steady light is far less visible and obvious than a flashing light for bicycles and this is therefore a significant disadvantage. Finally I found it very fiddly to separate the back plate from the body of the fitting and even more so to put them back together again although the fitting appears quite standard in design. Once re-assembled with the batteries in place the two are secured by means of a tiny, captive cross-head screw but the screw had no thread to engage with. I can only assume that that part was not captive and had fallen out but being so small I have been unable to find it. All in all this was a waste of time and money for me.

Echt waterdicht
